    Buzby's is up for sale.....

Spung-Man, I can relate. In the last twenty five years, every available space, in Hamilton that could be built on, has been utilized. Farmland that had family roots going back two hundred years, gone. Raceways and fair grounds razed for developments. Historic houses, either demolished or moved...

    Buzby's is up for sale.....

Directly across the street from Buzby's and up Route 532 a short ways, I recall seeing a sign posted with a picture of a small development on it. I don't know the specifics of the building plan, but it looked to consist of 5(?) houses built on a cul-de-sac. There is also a corner lot, approved...

    The goose is cooked.....

Boyd, it is suprising to see what programs states offer to feed the homeless. Here is a link to one... http://sharedeer.org/

What is being observed from the high animal blind??

It is along the orange-yellow trail. It is nothing but a huge deer stand and it has been there a few years. The deer like to congregate in the dry cranberry bogs, which it overlooks. That area has plenty of cedar and blueberry bushes. I think it is a perfect spot. The smell could be the bogs...

What is being observed from the high animal blind??

Are you referring to the hunter's stand on the backside of Parker's preserve? Is it located in a clearing along side of the line of cedar posts from the old fence? It has one leg that is bent from someone trying to push it over.

    The goose is cooked.....

To be honest, the geese probably had their necks broken as they were caged. Quick and easy. It doesn't bother you or I, but the treehuggers just love to scream about these things. I say feed the homeless with roasted goose. It is a waste of good meat.

    The goose is cooked.....

I didn't want to be graphic, because it is a sensitive subject. Depending on who is doing the euthanasia, it can be a dedicated building or as simple as tarping the back of a truck. The gas can come from an engine's exhaust or tank filled with compressed gas.

    The goose is cooked.....

46er, carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide is more than likely used. It is very common, for animal control to euthanize large numbers of animals using these gases. Sometimes other inert gases are added, such as argon.

    ML or bobcat?

Adam, I would also say that the track is canine. If you take a close look at the pad of the track you can see that has a triangular shape to it. If it were from a feline, that pad would be much flatter and wider with two nodes on the top and bottom. Do you have a close up of the track and of the...

    Buzby's is up for sale.....

Spung-man, it is just good discussion. I still have an anti-government streak in me and issues that you brought up, make me want to rise up in opposition. ;) It would be nice to know who makes the final decisions?

    Buzby's is up for sale.....

Spung-Man and all, wouldn't Executive Order 13406 have some impact on eminent domain and shady backdoor deals associated with Pineland redevelopment? Is there a grey area with public/private development of the Pinelands that can get around current laws in place that are suppose to prevent...

1960's NY Times travel article on the NJ Pine Barrens

Thanks, Dragoncjo. I was just curious and it was mid to late summer when I saw the team out in the field. It looked like so much fun what they were doing!

1960's NY Times travel article on the NJ Pine Barrens

Dragoncjo, not to get specific about your work and studies, but does it involve a Jeep Cherokee and a radio directional finder? Several times I was shooting pictures and hiking in the bombing range area, I saw several people with smaller hand held antenna, tracking and finding something. They...

    Just Exploring

Teegate, it is nice that you had a moment to explore that logging site. It would have been exciting to find the remains of a saw mill, we were hopeful. I still get a kick out of seeing "corduroy" roads. Very nice!

I overlooked the image titles, that is what confused me. You are right about north Jersey totals bringing the average up.

Traveler's Forecast for the Pine Barrens

Boyd, maybe we should change rainfall to precipitation. The term maybe more accurate. Factoring in snowfall amounts from early in the year , plus rainfall, makes the total understandable. The coast did receive more snow that I thought...
