They couldn't, or wouldn't even catch the jerks at quarter mile.

    Long Range Weather Effects ?

Snow pack releases water over a period of time thus delaying any drought that might occur. In NJ if there is any significant snow it melts and runs off quickly and is no help in the summer.

    Long Range Weather Effects ?

No, we had so much water since July the ground is saturated. If the water can't run off it just sits there.

    Where's the Snow?

The pines are really slushy. There are lots of people driving around the Carranza area. There are 2 tents at Batona Camp, 3 cars and no tracks leading back. They must have been there all night. That area will freeze tonight and be slow to thaw.

We got 1 heavy inch here. I have a nice hot fire going and we are getting ready to go for a hike in the pines.

    Friendship Bogs washouts

This is really last years news, but maybe like me, some of you haven't been there recently. The heavy rains really took a toll on the pines roads and beaches. There are two washed out gates effectively isolating a boat launch from vehicle traffic...

    Hiking the Parker Preserve

On Sunday we hiked from the North Gate to the South Gate in order to explore a more remote area of the preserve. We combined sections of the green, white, blue and yellow trails to customize our hike. Along the way we picked up 4 geocaches, found a beautiful picnic spot, an old cultivated...

Trains found underwater off of NJ coast

"It is odd that these heavy objects did not sink into the sand. Instead, they sit upon their wheels as if the sand were hard as rock, with a big space beneath each engine. MoDiver reports that the engines actually rest on iron gratings in the sand, something that the Deep Sea Detectives missed...

Trains found underwater off of NJ coast

I wonder how they landed on their feet. The strapped to a barge idea made sense. All of the barges I dove sunk flat on the bottom.

    Kodak

They do sell digital cameras now, probably made in China for them. It's amazing how a company could be at the top and then loose it. This wasn't sudden, it must be about an entrenched corporate personality unwilling to change. Sears is going the same way. We used to buy a great deal from them...
