    Topo High Points

I was up here at this 180 foot height today. Very cool, a little clearing on top, but not really used by vehicles. What really annoys me; that gravel pit was only 4 or 5 feet lower than Apple Pie hill until the morons mined the top off.

    Raptor

Today at the Parker Preserve. This avian species allowed me to get real close. I'm guessing a juvenile eagle? I'm not much of a birder.

    Pine Snake

Came across a large one this afternoon down by Tuckerton. Had to be close to 6 feet long. Got a good little video of him hissing at me, but can't post it. He also buzzed his tail. It did throw me off a second!

    Big Black Hole

I wonder what it's like to be in the center of this wind hole in South Dakota tonite. http://hint.fm/wind/

    PayPal

I closed my account with PayPal. I'm a little confused by them constantly aligning themselves with other business, and then breaking off the relationship. It makes it all confusing, and one of their recent policy changes has me wondering. The recent policy change basically says we consent to...

Forked River Mountain Cleanup Sunday 19 April

As usual, Chris and I will be leading separate crews to clean up certain areas. If you'd like to participate, Chris will be up by Bamber in the Greenwood Forest. I'll be in pretty deep, down by the Middle Branch of the Forked River. If you'd like to help me, four wheel drive is necessary. If you...

    Dealing with Comcast

I simply cannot do it without yelling at them over the phone. I pay $1,200 a year for internet and some TV (encore, PBS, History, TBS..etc...NO HBO or Showtime, or triple play junk). My "promotional" is up this week, so I called them. They want to give me less for more money, or more of what I...

    The Europeans were first?

I started watching a show last night (I think it was 11:00), and it was about the theory that natives first arrived in North America 17,000 years ago. I did not see the title, and I turned it on after it began. There were some people in a boat crossing a combination sea and ice bridge. All three...

    So sad.

I used to open up the Atlantic City Press online sometimes to see what is going on down that way. It always struck me that they were one of the very first to ask you to subscribe, or they'd cut you off. It got to be so annoying that I stopped going there. Today, I see they must be in dire...

Vote No to expand Hunting in NJ

As another thread indicates, there are bills before the legislature that will expand hunting considerably. I am firmly against expanding hunting in the ways they desire, so have written to my legislators to urge a no vote on these bills. To find your legislators, use this link...

    Lidar addiction

I have to walk away from the computer. Boyd's Lidar is too addicting--it is the pines in a whole new light. The upper right corner of the below photo is the Great Swamp complex containing the Nescochauge, Sleeper, Mullica, etc. Could ancient cold winds from the north (white lines) have created...

    Google Maps

Damn, they screwed up the format again. Cluttered up the field by trying to give more than is needed. If anyone knows how to get rid of the search box in the upper left corner, let me know please.

    Fraud in the Gulf

Interesting reading. I'm sure we all knew some of this was going to happen, but who would have thought a court appointed plaintiff steering committee would be in on the action. Well, then again, they are lawyers...

    Big Spung, Pine Barren exploring

Yesterday PBX explored a large area south of the Skit Branch Bridge, just east of Hampton Furnace. I've always wanted to see the area just south of the bridge. I'd been there before with Guy, but I wanted to get an in depth look. Plus, I'd never seen the area called 1/4 mile, so off we went...
