Yeah, that looks bigger than the one I saw. Quite a tree.

    A big tree

I recall bringing some leaves home (I think), may get to them tomorrow. Preliminarily, I have a book that matched it up to Populus grandidentata.

I also saw this white oak (I think) on the marsh edge.

    A big tree

Yeah, I opened up the registry and saw there's one 21 feet in circumference. I'd not come close to that. I also notice in the registry a loblolly in Cape May is a champion and I walked right by it two weeks ago. I was amazed at all the loblolly in there, and big ones. Some were in the muck and...

Thanks Ron, I'll put a string in my bag I reckon. I guessed 4.5 feet, but didn't want to be too much off, so said 4 feet.

Yesterday, in a sort of maritime forest (close at least). Several of these. I'm guessing 4 feet in diameter. Can you guess what it is?

    Snappers

How 'bout this trailing arbutus. I've never seen one with such flowers. I was heady from smelling them. Nearly fainted.

    Snappers

I just remembered. I moved the one. He was at the bottom of a steep slope, and across the road a pond. I put him in there. Look at the back of the shell. Snapper by God.

    Snappers

I was surveying a stream near Colliers Mills and was suprised to see snappers come back from the dead. They looked dead, but were not. One was maybe 25-30 pounds, the other maybe 44-50. The one on the log is huge. He must have spent a week getting up there on the log. PS: how come they don't...
