    A stockpile of fill dirt

That's when scarce, fine white sand is suddenly available, and people make a run on the banks in order to secure it. :) http://www.silvi.com/material_category/sand-gravel-products/bank-run/

    Stink Bugs

Yes, many in Bamber too. I delight in flicking them away from the screens with my finger from inside the house. They pop off about 12 feet into the yard. Got three at one flick today. Not very elegant fliers.

Old picture of Batsto Mansion and General Store

Agreed. May have been an inordinately high flow at the time, which is the reason they photographed it. Brings into sharp focus the PBX trip of May 2002 "Begin the Batsto" wherein we stood in the very beginning of that stream in 2" of water north of route 532.

    Jose, Maria

It appears the coastal areas of Puerto Rico will be destroyed. Head for the hills.

Old picture of Batsto Mansion and General Store

Strange to think that when the photo was taken, Charles Reed was dead for, what, 130 years? That is longer than that photo is to us.

But if you click on the link, the photo pops up. I'm not sure that is a problem? In the future, I'll show the photo again.

I still think you are mixing the posts up Al. Post #1468 and post 1473 are about the batona trail. Post 1488 is the wall in Whiting.

    Where is this?

No one identified the below. It is that large, oddly placed reservoir just north of Evans Bridge in the woods on the east side of 563. This is the Batona Trail.

    Ticks & Chiggers--a study

Interesting. But I felt like something was crawling on me as I read it. I did a sweep of an infested area yesterday with an old t-shirt section. Will post next week on that. Here's another good article, and maybe hope for the future...

    National Flood Insurance Program

From that article: ....“They recognize that people that make a certain amount of money and live in a higher-hazard flood zone don’t have the financial resources to elevate their home, nor do they have the resources to pay the actuarily correct premium. So then it becomes a social issue as to...

    Retreat

I laugh every time I see that word Scott :). You know, I'd rather be spending my "seizure" days in "leisure" rather than home and yard maintenance. Ask Johnny, who started this post...he lives in the Seizuretown we are speaking of.

    Retreat

Johnny, did you read the entire trip link? Jerseyman contributed a serious amount of information for that area. https://forums.njpinebarrens.com/threads/retreat-preserve-a-pbx-special-hike.8899/#post-107085

I remember that too. I can't recall the year, otherwise I could tell you who was there besides Guy and I. They used to let us use the grove behind the rec hall next to the stream. Last year they absolutely insisted we sit at the rec hall. This really annoyed me since we were using the grove for...

Thanks Nascar, sorry to hear that about your job. If that camping place is the one I'm thinking of, yes, the quality and attitude has deteriorated.

Coyote conspiracy: Myth, or state-business collusion?

Michael, you sound conflicted. Was it the stroke and the coyotes, or murder? You have to remember, his family may read your posts. Be a little more sensitive. The important thing for his family is to find closure, not supposition.
