Deal struck to hike NJ gas tax 23 cents

Yes, you are right, I used the wrong term. Not the same as corporate or state/municipal bonds, but I remember owning quite a few U.S. Savings bonds. I think I paid, like $18 for a $25 bond....and after X number of years (7?) I cashed it in for $25. I don't think they sell them anymore. I...

Deal struck to hike NJ gas tax 23 cents

So you are saying that debt service is dividends to bondholders, and maybe those who cash them in. If yes, that is what I thought. Seems kind of weird that a lot of the debt holders may be NJ citizens. Making money off the backs of fellow citizens. I know, not totally like that, but enough to...

Deal struck to hike NJ gas tax 23 cents

Seems damned if you do, damned if you don't. I'd like the money fenced off, but I'm also leery of a NO vote. If it gets voted down, then the money servicing the debt is taken from the tax increase, now and if needed from any future gas tax increases. It would seem much cleaner if the money in...

Deal struck to hike NJ gas tax 23 cents

Ed, it's more complex than what 101.5 says. You have to really make up your own mind (if you can). Don't listen to that man behind the curtain. http://www.nj.com/opinion/index.ssf/2016/10/vote_yes_on_question_2_gas_tax_revenue_lockbox_edi.html

Deal struck to hike NJ gas tax 23 cents

If you read the below, and everything in it, you'll probably go blind. Maybe you understand all this more than the rest of us tsqurd? Do you work in the system somehow? I don't understand one quarter of it. The FAQ answers totally blow my mind. But I do know this: there is something wrong about...

Or, A 'yes' vote will FORCE them to bond an additional $12 billion, OR spend real money. A 'no' vote will allow them to use the money from the gas tax for debt service.

    Has Barnegat gone down hill?

I see Barnegat and Manahawkin being subject to a big squeeze. Everyone trying to move further south, away from Lakewood and Toms River. Most of the land west of the parkway is locked up by Pinelands rules, so you'll see a lot of changes down there in the future, I'm thinking.

Deal struck to hike NJ gas tax 23 cents

Watch NJ News tonight Ed, it lays it out pretty good. In theory, if you pass question #2, they'll have to find (or borrow) other money to pay down the debt they've run up by fixing the roads without raising the gas tax over the years (half of the new tax is slated to pay down that debt). The...

The Hamlet of Friendship and the Alloways.. The History Behind the Alloway Memorial Stone

I find the history of De Marco fascinating given all that surrounds the family name. And I applaud J. Garfield De Marco's decision to sell his holdings to a conservation group rather than wood farmers and other cranberry growers. He likely had a few other motives than conservation for doing so...

The Hamlet of Friendship and the Alloways.. The History Behind the Alloway Memorial Stone

Very interesting, with a lot of information. Terry's article is also informative too. I wonder why Garfield erected the stone? What do you think motivated him to do that?

    Food for thought--the can sandwich

I'd throw a couple of the honey-peanut butter in my truck tool box. The chicken? Maybe not. http://newatlas.com/candwich-can-sandwich-review/46037/?li_source=LI&li_medium=default-widget

Jon, in the first shot, I can easily smell that area just by looking at the photo. That stimulus to both sight and smell is what makes a great photo for me. Well done.

Then you should have just not said anything. When you bring up negative thoughts about a person's post that most people just ignore, it makes you look boorish and hard to deal with.

Yes they are private property, of course. I did not say I was not frustrated that a private entity has not developed a park. I don't expect the state to do so. By we, I mean all of us. Most people don't like to see the permanent scarring of the land and loss of fresh water (to atmosphere) that a...
