Man Goes Missing During Hunting Trip

He may not be that far out there. Sounds like he was scouting something out. Even if confused, if he walked in a straight line, he would have hit one of these roads. That is a dense area, and I've walked out on a straight line myself a couple years ago.

Man Goes Missing During Hunting Trip

They should have a registry of people familiar with the pines, and when something like this happens, they would call us all or email us...and if it is a weekday, allow us to take off of work (like jury duty) and do the search. It has to increase the odds many times (the more people that are out...

Remove not the ancient landmarks, which thy fathers have set!

Tim, if you read this someday; a very fine article. Well researched and well laid out. I like your comment about how you knew the stone meant something..."we measured to it". Guy is helping the Forked River Mountain Coalition sort out some of our property lines, and I can see he can be quite...

    View?

JD, I don't recall the mailbox, but it would not surprise me. What you say could all be true or partially true, but I'm almost positive that the remediation method was blasted by everyone. I wish I really knew the full story, it would make for interesting reading. It's in some archives somewhere...

Wild West Wading, A PBX Hike

For easy archive purposes, I am posting the below link. When we did this trip in 2009, I was extremely dissapointed that the beavers had blocked access to all the beautiful scenery along this stunning little section of the Wading. The below link highlights those areas before they built their...

    Some Photos from Today

That is Lycopodiella caroliniana Al, a very distinctive club moss. It is recognizable by the leaves on the ground and by it's slim, compact profile. It is not seen as often as most of the other club mosses in the pines. http://plants.usda.gov/core/profile?symbol=LYCAC

Hmm, I don't know Pan. For some reason that photo draws me in. I can't put my finger on just why it is, but it is intoxicating.
