    MakePeace, A PBX Hike

Ugh...I could think of nothing worse than that. It is not just the lost of money to me, but the stigma of failure. My whole life would never be the same. But, I realize everyone is different. For some, it may not bother them.

Hi, I am just so tired of seeing the thread title "Steve Jobs Dead"....I am trying to make a more permanent change of subject. Let's move on. Besides, I do want one of these someday....maybe not this one though...

I guess you mean the post above where I said move the people along 72. If they don't want a buy out, then they need to accept the same risk I do. But the NJFFS should not plow and scrape the Pine Plains into something unrecognizable as wilderness, or to rush out there with a can of water and put...

It is a Pinelands Village. I did not designate it. I just take the opportunity of that fact to live here. If my house burned down, so be it. I realize the risk. My criticism of the fireline practices of the NJFFS is fully warranted.

    Forked River Mountains Tour

The lack of firebreaks may be due to most of the area either owned privately or by conservation groups. We tell them to keep their silver spades out of here. I appreciate your candor. I find it interesting. As Ted indicated, I like this area due to the mystery and wild feeling. Our land feeds...

What, is there something wrong with that? Get the range off the plains. Move the people along 72. Stop the buildng. Warn people to not move there.

No sign of them Mark! Getting back into some of those more remote levees and dunes was really nice...it felt real free to be back there. Your earlier post uses the term"drift-sand badlands". That is so aptly named. Thanks for the information. Travelers still avoid it today!

Yes, when we got to Bonnie's crossing we could not face one more patch of briar. Across there was another wall of green.

Scott, thanks for a great tailgate. It was top shelf--really. Everything you brought was great, and I really loved the long-hots. Along with the good beer, wine, and Paul's soda bread, it was a perfect tailgate.

This is a long stretch of clearings that was right out of the fifties, but is now hard to get to. Remember the banana bikes? Found at the very end of a waypoint we called “LinkRay”. Part of the crew in the first big savanna, checking something out (explore, it’s what we do!). Big...

Many times we found pine trees on top of the dunes that had literally decayed in perfect symmetry. The pine knots were not kicked out of place at all. This is really something to see.

It really is a nice area to explore, though tough going. I think Gabe is right when he says this was perhaps the delta area of a huge river. The sandy knobs (or dunes) we continually fought our way onto were the sand bars of this huge river from the ice age. I hope Mark the Spung Man comes on...

    The new Falklands

I find stories like this fascinating on so many levels. Many issues to be considered in their future. "Can this place survive it?" she asked. "Everything we're saying we're here for - not locking your doors, the freedom, the tranquility - can it survive so much money?"...

Vicious briars! Chris and I crawled about 150 feet on our knees in that one patch of blueberry and briars to get out to that road.

There were cedars, but they seemed to be scattered here and there. Once in awhile they would be in a line several deep...but I did not see any forming a classic cedar swamp. A very unique area of open, sandy knobs surrounded on both sides by impenetrable briar and blueberry. The blueberry were...

I wonder though, if the range management either did it on thier own, or if they told the fire service to do that. Inquiring minds now want to know.
