    Trashing the pines

The toughest gate I have ever seen is the one blocking the road to Forked River Mountain. There is a welded box surrounding the lock. You have to slip your hand inside this box 10" just to unlock it. You are working blind trying to insert the key. I hope it stays that way.

Gabe, is this you? Seriously. http://www.comcast.net/video/raw-video-phillies-fan-tasered/1484976131/Comcast/1484942311/ I do think this is excessive force. Quite ridiculous.

I think that beaver dam we visited on Scott's trip is about 1,000 feet long.

Yeah....where did you go Scott? I heard that Dottie gave you a specific time to be home before she left. Did you catch hell for being late? :clint:

Nice cedar swamp photo Chris. By the way, we scored this trip a 9.0 on the Richter scale.

West Bank Oswego, A PBX Hike

It was a real good trip, though somewhat dangerous due to the weather. We came out okay though. Weather for our big trip is consistently in the upper 80’s despite being in the low to upper 70’s on most days before and after the trip each year! It is just dumb bad luck we have. Our plan...

Cool. I have noted that there are a lot of Hobo flowers by the train tracks in Lakehurst too. I will get to them of course, but I need to retire to make a dent in them!

Tom, where were you, someone's backyard, or perhaps behind a school or near a farm? Not many of them seem to be common PB species.

    Hot summer evening bike ride

Actually, our administrator was given the alebazdunku ceremony yesterday along the Oswego River. Not for a deed of valour, or meritorius conduct, but because of his ability to shrug it off when Chris told him he forgot the pasta salad. We celebrated this event by sticking the feather of a...

Tom, if that first plant is indeed Uvularia puberula, you have found a rarely seen Pine Barren Bellwort. I have a few in Bamber, found only in Mid-May at the transition zone between swamp and dry heath. What you have there may be a different species, but my money is betting on early Pine Barren...
