    Creek week....

Very nice photos. Clear, colorful, and crisp. Those red bell things are the seed pods for the meadow beauty! Those are more advanced than the flowers. I think you are right on the hemlock.

To Find A Yellow Crested Orchid

On my way to meet Guy this morning I was shocked to see two dark-phase timber rattlers on the dirt road I was going down. The 15 degree temperature drop may have driven them to seek some sun on the road. It is uncanny how calm they are despite how deadly they can be. One of them...

Stunning shots Guy, every single one of them. Just beautiful. I really enjoyed the day with you. Its great being way out in the pine barren wilderness. PS: yup, I'm pretty bummed out about that orchid. But, we'll go back on foot next year.

    Beer (again)

No! Did he really say that? What, tales out of school....and by phone? George told me that he would never tell the house detective anything. With posts between George and I you can never connect the dots, or say there is linkage by cause and effect. It is all done by "opportunity" to have fun.

That is very likely Hieracium venosum without the flowering scape. Maybe an animal scarfed it up.

No, can't be even though the flower is somewhat similar. I base that upon the leaves. Are those the leaves? Canbyi leaves are narrow.
