Friday in the Pines and Not At Work

Yes, Guy's camera is a real beauty. Guy, ain't if funny sometimes? We go out to prepare for a future fun day and we have a great day together kicking around out there in the low country. I honestly did not want to go home. The weather was cool and delicious, and we had that country all to...

Readings show Four Corners marker off

That is SO BOGUS! How can they do something utterly stupid like that! It is an affront to all anal people like me. Really! :bang: PS: I'll bet money that in just two years, the correct location will be more popular.

    Pink is up!

Guy, for the record, that is not Lycopodium palmatum. It is Lycopodium digitatum. I was thinking of my palm hat and the rare Lygodium palmatum. So, it is correctly Lycopodium digitatum.

    According to this gauge

Virgos, I honestly did not know it was tempermental until it was pointed out to me on this discussion board. I must have done that river 5 times in the 70's, and it was not like it is today. I have no clue. You mention the bogs. If it were bogs, it would have to be Sim Place, as the other ones...

I find it a bit odd that is was still round, the butt joint was tight when I found it. The bird must have had his leg eaten by wiley coyote.

Guy, The last little plant, with the single yellow flower is Pontentilla canadensis. It is a member of the Rose family. Some call it dwarf cinquefoil.

Nice report. I think you were there. Is that a toad on the brick? Did you not mention it to see if we'd spot it?

    April Blooms

I noted the seeds shape may look like litte corn ears when mature. The flower is about 5.5 mm wide, and the pistil is only 1.8 mm tall. It is classified as an invasive weed in most areas. http://www.msuturfweeds.net/details/_/corn_speedwell_39/ By the way, I also found the red-flowered...

    April Blooms

Drifter, I ran into the blue one today with Guy. It took me a while to key that one out. It is Veronica arvensis. The common name is corn speedwell.

You really have good micro talent. Very beautiful shots. The first one is a broom moss. I don't have a technical book on mosses and liverworts (yet) but I'd guess that is Dicranum condensatum. The second is from a tree, right? I think they are red maple buds; Acer rubrum. The third is a...
