    Deep Hollow Campground

Ben, if my memory serves me well, the floor of the pavilion was level and either flagstone or concrete. I'll bet someone in Presidential lakes has a photo. The pavilion was on the northeast side, right on the top of the hill leading down in to the lake.

    Dutchtown Freestyle, a PBX Hike.

That photo came out very nice Bear. Thanks for coming to see us off. Don't give up on treatment of your health issue. You'll be out there again. I wish you were there at this first photo; it shows how far these savannas stretched out. You can see two wider areas in the distance: This was...

    A few questions

That was a state run campground in there back when I was a kid. The loop hit all the camping spots, which were numbered. They had a big wooden pavilian, and damned the stream to make a fine swimming lake. In the 70's they abandonded it. Really annoyed me when they did that.

So, the best thing to do is to upload the photos to the gallery at the original size, and let the gallery handle the conversion to the proper size? I was going to do some tonite, so I want to ensure I have it right. Boyd, I don't understand this comment...."keeping inline images as small as...

Ong's Hat to Forked River Mts

Quite a road trip Mark for one day! You hit my neck of the woods in more ways than one. I spent my teenage years in Presidential Lakes so I cruised Lebanon State Forest and Deep Hollow endlessly. I have lived within about 3 crow miles of Forked River Mountain for the past 25 years. You are...

    Brew your own beer?

Damn! You must be a big fellow. I could do, maybe the 2 pints, some food and then another, long as the alcohol was light on the last one. But to top it off with squid? Yech!

    Found another interesting website.

I enjoyed looking at that site. It is well done. Thanks. I find it interesting that there was an agreement drafted up to allow the NJ Indians equal shares of the NY reservation. I thought all they would have had to do is shake hands. I wonder how feasible a hike of the reservation border is.

Quaker to Batsto September Trip Report

Good ones Jeff! Here's another. 6. The Pajama Party: Gaggles of girls who shriek hysterically each time the canoe ends up in the bushes on a turn because they can't steer. 7. The Regimentalist: belongs to a large canoe/kayak club. Has all the latest gear, complete with bush hat, life vest...

Quaker to Batsto September Trip Report

Lorun, I just don't know what to say. What do the kayakers think about how it happened? Was the nervous guy all jerky and twitchy? That would do it. I would be very surprised that the water was 12 feet, I'm guessing more like 6, 7 at the most. If you don't touch bottom, it can seem deep...

Exploring a Different Area of Wharton

Often, when Cedar is clearcut, which the 1931 photo shows (something was), then the hardwoods take over. So there very well may have been cedar there. It was always wet, so I doubt they went in there to get pitch pine, because it would not have been in there.
