    Ticks & Chiggers--a study

I wish something could be done to annihilate ticks from Earth. Or at least reduce their numbers drastically. Think outside of the box--come up with something bold and innovative. Like when you use certain products to kill ants, and they kill others nearby by association.

Faint Road from Staffordville to Woodmansie

Your suspicions are correct. Stafford Township line and Ocean County line. Guy will elaborate. If you use google maps, type in the name of any township or county, and google will create the line for you to see. Especially useful in aerial view.

That is really sad. I read somewhere that some fawns succumb to them.

Another road at a right angle from that road we visited in the afternoon last year Tom.

    Rattlesnake

Gibby, I was at Glassboro Wildlife Management Area with a group of botanists. That area is definitely different than the pines proper. More deciduous trees and swamps.

:) No matter what road you travel on, be it crooked and corrupt, or a wide one lined with fortune and fame, if you accept Jesus Christ as your savior from sin, you will spend eternity in Heaven. I know, for Jesus told me so.

Maybe they used to be, but since there is other stuff mixed in with the exhaust, and they don't like a lot of breeze, it's bred out of them?

This female lone star was questing this morning on a blade of Pennsylvania Sedge. She was trying to reach the camera at one point, to no avail. I understand that this species moves aggressively towards carbon dioxide emissions. She was likely not there when I walked in, but set herself up for the...

If you get bit by a snapper, and he holds on tight, chop his head off. But even then, without his body, his jaws will clamp tight on your hand until the clock strikes midnight. At that time, he relaxes his grip. But at least you don't have to carry his whole body around all day.

    Pine Barren Flora

Speaking of turtles, I rounded the corner in the woods by a dam today and ran into the heftiest snapper I've ever seen. I looked at him and said "Holy crap". He did the same and ran into the water, but I did get a blurry shot off. It was massive, the photo does not do it justice. When I first...

    Ticks & Chiggers--a study

Over the past two days, I've been harassed by what I think are nymph stage lone star ticks that are starting to become adults. I judge this mainly by the more intense coloring than what would be seen in a normal nymph. Plus the size. These are about 1.5 mm long, the upper stage of the nymph life...

    Announcing the new NJPB Maps

The map, regular satellite, regular topo, and Lidar are good. The historic topo and all other aerials are poor. It does not fill in all the grids, and is very slow.
