    Cook's Branch

I have completely walked the upper half. Mike Baker and I did that in the late 90's. It is simply superb. It may be more grown in now. I did the lower half, but not in the stream proper. It is simply too cold and has deeper holes with underwater logs crisscrossing. Thanks for asking, you are...

    Cook's Branch

After I take a photo on my camera Scott, there are two options in the camera menu I can use to modify them: Watercolor and Illustration. This one was set with illustration. You can do it anytime, even after you upload them to your computer, as long as they are still on the camera. This is the...

Pine Barren Culture; Dead or Alive

Pan, just bring a can of starter fluid around with you. It has to have the same effect (or worse). It beats having to do something with a gasoline soaked rag after you use it. :)

“Rough and Tumble Pine Plains," A PBX Hike

:) We should have played a game of tag right there Guy. If one were in Little Egg, you were safe being the only rule (but you had to keep moving). You could have been the referee.

    Skit Sunset

"Tuesday Afternoon" was the first record (45 rpm) I bought. I used to be a paperboy in Presidential Lakes in the late 60's. That record really impressed me, I knew it by heart.

Pine Barren Culture; Dead or Alive

Actually, Chatsworth on main street still looks like Chatsworth. You haven't noticed because you have to keep you eyes glued on the road to avoid hitting the speed bumps too hard. I hate those things. They should have used strong enforcement and signs instead. I pull ticks straight out. The...

    Windows 10

Well, its been over six months since the last comment on Windows 10 upgrade. They've had plenty of time to tweak early bugs out. Has anyone else upgraded recently? I'm hesitant to upgrade, but still have an open mind about it.

“Rough and Tumble Pine Plains," A PBX Hike

Hi Barry. PBX is short for Pine Barren Explorers. At times we open it to all on the board, but we usually never get anyone who wants to come. I'll start a conversation with you via the internal message system on this site.

I wouldn't mind exploring some of those streams coming into the lake Al (for plants). Maybe May or June sometime.

Thanks Al. Maybe some of those buildings are in this video? Looks like a good camp to learn things. What is the country coming to when a camp for growing young people cannot keep afloat. Is it disinterest?

Al, where is that general location? Green Acres now, apparently. http://campedge.org/Camp_Edge/Home.html

What's the story behind the blue pond at Franklin Parker?

I've likely been to that one (off 532, right?). They dug the sand out to build dikes or use it for something else. Therefore it is like any gravel pit you see that was man made. It is really the upper ground water level they have reached by their digging. Why the blue color? I'm not sure...

Locations of Wharton Environmentally Sensitive Areas (ESAs)

I had no idea that sand pit on Hampton Road was there. I suppose it's hidden when driving on the road.
