Nice! Reminded me of Kerouac by Ken Kweder. Which then got me reminiscing about the Philly music scene. JDB was always a fun show. Nanette Mancini would crush it.

Canned Heat is amazing. They released a great album a year or two ago. That's longevity. Visited Albert Hall once when friend was playing there, drumming in a bluegrass band. Which is funny if you knew him. He's more likely to have Hed PE playing on the stereo than anything from Flatt &...

    Ticks & Chiggers--a study

Regarding the soon to arrive gnats and deer flies. :( Have used the old-sticky-blue-solo-cup-on-top-of-the-cap-trick (as Maxwell Smart might say) with effective results. Then saw this clip-on-dragonfly for sale on the social feeds today. Looks slightly less ridiculous. Might give it a try...

While We Were Sleeping, Very Bad Things Happened

If past experience is any indication... "IF" the DEP dropped this. There would be some signage alongside saying NO. So the SPP could enforce it if needed. More than likely itsa freelance effort. Similar to all the branches that were dragged across the designated bicycle trails several years...

    GEICO Insurance

Don't know how the tariffs will affect the price of car parts and the corresponding price of car insurance. But I can't imagine it being good. The recent price hikes make me wonder if the insurance company actuaries saw this coming. Been using Geico for over a decade. There were no problems and...

    Fire in Wharton

Don't remember any wildfires occurring this early in the year. At the end of March there's usually discussion of which sand roads are flooded or the forecasted flurries.

If you have the opportunity to see Post Modern Jukebox on their 2025 tour, do it. It's a good fun show. One of the featured singers in this song, Sara Niemietz, hosted live shows, just her and her guitar, every week during the pandemic from her house. Been a fan ever since.

Recently rediscovered this gem from William Shatner. I know it's wrong, but I love the line, "everybody hates a tourist".

    Long bike path recommendations

Belleplain SF has 9 miles of MTB trail. Link it up with some of the other bikes-allowed trails and it's a good long ride. I know someone that leads 40 mile rides annually in several different sNJ forests and WMAs. Warning: those rides will take you deep into the pain cave. I'm partial to the...

Leon! Was tickled to find the entire Homewood Session on-line. Remember watching it w/ friends on The Midnight Special (hosted by the Wolfman) on a fuzzy B&W TV in dad's barn late one night.

    Karen Hunters

Some years ago I was fortunate to meet an older gentleman, very knowledgable about the forest and the sea. He mentioned that when out in the forest, he always kept his hatchet on his hip. When I asked why he didn't carry a lighter 9" folding saw. He replied that the hatchet was to scare away the...

Sometimes it's best to call Fish & Wildlife w/ details; time/date, GPS coordinates, of any encountered craziness. Game Wardens, and the majority of hunters, take hunting etiquette very seriously.
