I was just out muzzleloading, sitting along a frozen ditch, under a blowdown, in the middle of a 100 acre field. The conditions felt similar to Mt. Washington by the end of shooting light tonight.
Let 14 different does walk and glassed a nice buck out of range that vanished along with the daylight. The critters are in for a tough one tonight.

May be a good chance for ice boats to get out next week. :)

Wusses. The wind would have to be blowing a hurricane for frostbite to be a concern. Based on the forecast, not going to happen.

Wusses? You get out there playing an instrument with the weather in the teens and single digit wind chills, see how you like it. There will be kids and seniors in the parade. You've been in your arm-chair too long.

Another reason to cancel the NYD parade in Philly is due to the instruments freezing up. A lot of spit goes into those horns when being played and it freezes in this weather!

True enough, but it is not due to the wind chill as originally posted. Windchill has no effect on metal , water, plastic, concrete, asphalt, etc. It's winter. If you plan a parade in winter you should be aware it might be cold. Might be uncomfortable, but a person can dress for it.

There is some talk starting of around a foot of white stuff Wed/Thur.

Maybe.

So... how about that cold weather?

Personally, I like it. Wood splits nice and clean when its cold. Did about half a cord this afternoon. The Toms is frozen from downtown Toms River to the bay and the bay is covered under the RT37 bridge. Only open water is up around Huddy Park. The Snowy Owls are having a field day picking off ducks. But it is getting to the point where the mentally challenged go out on it.
