Boyd, I have a .gpx track file of the entire Batona Trail that includes the Parker and Bass re-routs if you are interested.
1.17 MB
That would be great, I will include it in my new map!
FWIW, work is progressing on the NJ 2013 map but it will take quite sometime. I'm switching to NJDOT road data which is supposed to be accurate within +/- 1 foot and also includes all the correct county route numbers. It only contains a few of the major unpaved roads however. So it's a huge job to reconcile it with my own heavily edited data. I'm also re-doing the LIDAR contourst so there's less "noise" (complex little contours that are just a distraction and make the map less responsive). I am using OpenStreetMap data for the bordering states (PA/NY/DE/MD) now and also expanding the coverage area. I've developed a new technique to turn LANDSAT imagery into forest shading for the bordering states and am completely re-doing that also (it's a real mess on the 2012 map).
But the biggest change is zoom level management. If you set the GPS for "normal" detail, more of the small features will disappear as you zoom out, making the map much more readable at scales like 2 miles. In the pines, you will see contour lines at 5 foot intervals through the .3 mile scale. When you zoom to .5 miles they will display at 10 foot intervals and when you zoom to 1.2 miles they will change to 20 foot intervals. If you don't like any of this you can just set map detail to a higher level, but I think it makes the map much more useful when you want to see the "big picture".
Anyway, this stuff takes a long time. I will post some screenshots in the Boyd's Map thread when I get closer to the point of releasing the update.
