Beer (again)

You know, nothing is better than burping after drinking a hoppy beer. I swear that the full flavor of the hops can only be tasted via burping.

Scott, I'm drinking "Harvest Ale" by Founder's. It will make you a hoppier man.

Interesting. I bought a brew made by monks a couple monks ago (Ha-ha-good one, right?) It was very wheaty, with a noticable amount in the bottom. They even suggested to toss the bottom out. I was not enamored of it and gave a couple bottles away.

Do you remember the name?

A lot of the unfiltered Belgians have bottles designed to trap the yeasties as the beer gets poured out.
 
My latest "at home" brew is Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale. Very good, but I'm no good at the details. Also, recently visited Tom Baker's new bar, Earth, Bread and Brewery, in Mt. Airy, on Germantown Ave., Philadelphia. He, and his wife, Peggy, operated Heavyweight Brewery over by Asbury Park for several years. He is considered to be one of the finest brewers in the country. A plus is that McMenamins (a great bar with great food at good prices) is only one block north. :guinness:
 
Here we go again wadies and genemens.
My oldest son brought home an ale tonight that was outstanding, although made by frogs.
Not a big fan of the frogs but always willing to down a new beer.
Canal's in Berlin has a mix and match micro brew section now where you can make your own sixer at per bottle prices.
It is called Belzebuth and was over $4.00 for one BOTTLE!
Worse yet, it was an 8.4 oz. bottle! Made in Ronchin France.
It is a heavenly, heavy blond ale with a sweet taste and 13% alchohol.
That's a big seller with me right off the get.
I brought home Otter Creek Copper Ale.
Two thumbs down on that. Tastes like Tide detergent.
Also bought Flying Dog K-9 Winter Ale.
Thanks to Gabe, this is a new favorite.
Also thanks to Gabe, I can no longer drink regular beer and will have to take out additional loans to help my youngest son finish college!

haha, true. I honestly can't tell you how many great times I had in the pines to the old PBR. Although there are thousands of different types of beer out there, any beer is better than no beer when it comes to hangin' around a campfire with no plans the next day.

Great Beer

I personally like any type of beer and feel that there are many different types of beer that suite many different drinking situations. I believe you can drink the basic of the basic around a huge group of people because the personalities of the people balance out the lack of taste in the beer. Where if your trying to bide your time and quench the workweek away, something with some kick and some bite will make up for what's missing and provide you with the good time you're looking for. I go for Rolling Rock, Yuengling, Pabst, or Milwaukee's Best when it comes to the basics, and Victory, Long Trail, Sam Adams, and any of the other million micro brews when I'm looking for something with some character. However, to each his own, and let the good times roll.

I have been drinking Sam Adams Pale Ale. I really like it. I'll save my Millers High Life for High summer!

I bought Ballentine Ale on a whim. Won't do that anymore. It was harsh.

The frogs that they are, the French have produced some of the world's best, from Debussy to fine ales. :)

Scott, you truly are a man of fine taste, and that you discovered true brew at such an old age truly is inspiring. I always look forward to drinking another with you.

As for winter ales, you want to grab hold of a sixer of Santa's Private Reserve by Rogue. I must say, it is good shit, if you'll pardon mon Francais.

I had never heard of Chelsea Brewing. Let me know if you ever see it available in a liquor store. I'm happy to see you drinking more IPAs. Keep at it!
 
OMG how halarious! But why is it when someone says polygamy everyone thinks of one husband with many wives? What happened to one wife with many husbands? Not for me though, no one could ever take the place of the one I now have. He just told me the other day, I don't ever have to worry about working again:):):) And we don't even drink beer except for Spaten (German beer?).

I think that would be "Polyandry".
 
For those of you who get into center city Philadelphia, of course there are a lot of good beer bars, but the Fox and Hound at 15th and Spruce has 36 taps. Pints are $2.50 all day on Tuesdays! Nice help and good food also. One block away is Monk's, best Belgian selection around. Most, but not all, of the bars are now smoke-free.
