Check this out! Someone is selling what they say is a letter from William McCarty (incorrect spelling) on ebay and is using Ben’s photo to show the Harrisville ruins. You can even see Ben’s name in the photo. Go to the below link and make sure you look at the photo of Harrisville.

If you notice he does give NJPineBarrens.com credit, but the photo was taken and is not stored on this site. That seems wrong to me especially if he did not ask Ben. Did he Ben?

If you report it to eBay, you could have the photo removed and/or the auction ended. Some girl a few years back took some of my Marlboro Slaughterhouse photos to try and sell a skeleton key she allegedly found there. I reported it saying that first off she was using my copyrighted photos without permission and gave them the links to it, and secondly if her claim of the key coming from the place was true, she was selling stolen property.

The auction came down maybe 40 minutes later.

I wouldn't have cared so much if it weren't for the fact that she wrote "Thanks Weird NJ!" and didn't mention me anywhere. That made my blood boil.

So yeah, I'd report it.

I would think that is up to Ben. Maybe he did give permission which I doubt. I would call him but it is late and he or his daughter may be sleeping and I don't want to wake her up or him for that matter.

I have PM'd Ben so as soon as he signs on he should see it. Ben .. keep us informed.

Well, he does credit the site. I could make a big deal about it, but in the end, the picture is hosted on ebay's servers so it's not costing me anything, and to be honest, it's a crappy photo anyway.

It is ironic, however, that only one of those photos shows a McCarty era building.

Woo, guess who won it! :)

Very nice. At least we know someone who respects it now has it. The other bidder looks to me like he would sell it again at a higher price. Check out their count.

Congrats!
