The hotel site is private property, is the road that goes through it to the Ft.Dix property line fence, private also, or public access ?

Thanks Jim

off topic with Ft. Dix & Wrightstown area

This might be alittle off topic...but here goes...
25 yrs ago I knew my way around that area like the back of my hand , but not today. Once Ft.Dix put up all those new entrences and blocked off accesses, Wrightstown has become a ture puzzle to get too. But following mapquest got me to the town. I had prevously called about an ad for bartenders, no experience needed. The guy called the bar Nite Dippers in Wrightstown, in the same breath telling me just how close Riverside is to Wrightstown. I thought no way, now with curiosity up & map in hand, out I went on a rainy afternoon adventure. Wrightstown has changed so much I didn't even realise I was there until I found the bar. It turns out Nite Dippers is the old Pioneer Bar. It still looks as ragged as I remember. I only drank in there a couple of times just remembering it had a big rectangle shaped bar. But the rest of the town was a shock from hell! Once there I took the time to ride around and look for other bars I used to frequent. Finding the road I used to use blocked off, I turned around in a parkinglot. There I sat in disbelief staring at the row of vacant buildings where Zacky Shack used to be. This adventure was one I had been putting off for years...and to see this! Good thing I went when I did since these vacant buildings had signs posted on them reading " Slated for demolation in 2008 for redevelopment by the Wrightstown boro". I would have went to look for a peice of a town that wasn't even there anymore. I would have felt like I was loosing my mind. Rex Bar that used to be across the street is now a Chinese food store. Kellys is still around the corner and looks half way decent. Then down the old forgotten path to the skeleton of what was once the old Satellite Bar. There it sat covered with vines and brush. To think how busteling this town once was! Oh the life that went on. Such fun and vigor all gone! Now the town looks like something from a third world news clip! I sure feel old today!!

Sue,
really nice post, thanks for sharing your thoughts. That sort of thing can bring a sadness for sure. Old places we know gone and changed forever breeds a melancholy feeling in me and yes, Tap rooms, Bars, Taverns, they're like keepers of time and tellers of tales in their own way and when they move on, it's a shame. I can think of a few that I miss.

Mucksavage,
I figure I'm about due to take a little nostalgic walk into the Fox.
I'm a little fearful of what I may find but for the sake of the site & in the interest of research, I'll do it.

Largo, it has been only a few months since I was in the Silver Fox. Other then that, it had been about a year since I went there and that was my first visit. I don't think much has changed since it feels like stepping back in time and very eeryyyyyy! That place is another nitch in time.

Well guys,
The weekend is touchy for me but today, in the interest of not having us waste a trip ( I live close so it ain't no thing )I called from work. Phone rang a good long time, when picked up, it was the 150 year old voice of the the woman that has to run the joint. I said hello and asked if I dialed the Silver Fox, just in case. She promptly hung up on me. It was no lost connection believe me. I tried to call right back and ring, ring, ring.
Waited a good while, called from my blocked cell. Same Cryptkeeper voice full of dust answered. I posed my question as pleasantly as I could waiting for the slam. She said " not open Mondays!" I asked politely if she still had weekend hours. " Can't tell you that now!" was the response and then of course, thank you didn't make it out of my mouth. Click.
So, I believe I was talking to Foxy herself but she was far from friendly.
I wonder is she only knew the fellow she was speaking to had some very strange times in there years back and had seen her in a not very gratifying state on more than one occasion.
I shared some of these tales off Forum a couple years back with Mucksavage. Not all the images my stories paint are suitable for the site.
I'll try again later in the week. If not this weekend, I'd like to do it.
Oh, the hours I used to go were very late, or very early depending on your perspective. Other than that, it's hit & miss as far as one car or 10 on any given weekend eve' at any given hour. My visits were by invite of a personal friend.

We're looking forward to a visit. I hope "Foxy" (thanks Largo) is okay. It's funny, we always joked about it being haunted, etc.

Well, my wife's recovering from minor foot surgery. When I told her we're going, she said "Sure".....then, followed by her comment...."Hey, I won't be able to run away if the cook come out with a cleaver or something"

My response......"Well, that means we all have a better chance of escaping!"

Like I said, I hope this comes together!

Well,
I am still possibly on but If the proprietor won't be straight, we can't all guess. It is a 10 minute ride from my house if I hit all redlights and drive like old Magoo I'm so close. Might stink for you guys.
For your wife... Ain't nothin about that place been about food for a very... long time unless there has been a radical transformation of late, & I doubt it. I could be wrong but I do not know if she has taps anymore unless she got them fixed.
The shear mystery of the place is walking into another dimension of sight & sound where nothing appears to be, well, I just don't know.
I am going to attempt to call again maybe Thursday or Friday and be real pleasant like to see if I get a better answer.
Sue & Muck, wish me luck.

Hey I called the Silver Fox Inn tonight around 9pm. Foxy answered and was very polite telling me the Inn will be open Friday 4:30 till 2:00am. I heard what sounded like a tv in the background and men talking also. This is hopeful.
