Thanks! It appears the whole of Sims Place was comprised of Burnt Cabin Swamp and was subsequently cleared and turned into bogs .This lends evidence to my theory the branch was through the present day bogs and no longer exists. The canal that stretches between two resevoirs is probably the remnant of the branch.Savage branch is also mentioned in written descriptions on this map and now I see where that is.It appears to be another name for Plains Branch.By the way what is Bisbee and where can I see this book at?

Guy:

Actually, it is his second place name book that contains the Burnt Cabin Swamp reference:

By the way, this is an excellent price for this book in case binding with a dustjacket. I would run and not walk to the dealer to order this particular copy if you are in need of it for your collection.

Best regards,
Jerseyman

Nice input, Jerseyman. Now the big question...where was the cabin that burnt down, who's was it, and why did they build it in a swamp? If it has been swallowed up by the development of bogs at Sim place I guess we'll never know. Another ghost in the pines.

The creek no doubt ran through the swamp but no one but cajuns build cabins in a swamp.Perhaps there was an island or peninsula extending into the swamp to the creek and the cabin was there. There may be a reference buried in an old book or document somewhere but i doubt there is any physical evidence left now.

Unfortunately, that cabin is burnt. Or I should say hosed down.
