I decided to return to the calico area on Sunday to take some pictures with my new camera. This was a solo outing as i needed some quiet and solitude. The former big puddle, a small lake six weeks ago.

This go around was also a lake six weeks back, i walked through the former big puddle, and if i had my choice, i would take that with a four wheel drive, the go by is 3 feet deep trenches, quite a few of them too.

I then visited this swamp.

I walked a little further up the road to this canal.

I then turned around to go back to my car, rode down the road for a little, then stopped to do a little more exploring, walked up a ridge line, across from a cranberry bog and viewed this.

Hiking further in the area i viewed the bog, pic is in my album, then i came upon this.

I then decided to return home, the road from calico to allen' road had two small puddles where oswego road meets allen's road, i have some pics in my gallery of a fire pit with extinguishers in them and also of the concrete ruins. Oswego road to munion field road was another story.

Sugar sand caused me to rev it up 70% of the time, i passed this gun club on the way, anyone know it's name.

This one's for Guy.

I have two other pics in my album, one of a gravel pit, that was full of water a month ago, and a pic of the great white cedar restoration project.

What an outing, no ticks, no flies, of course i was protected.

Jim,
Looks like you covered yourself some ground. Some wise choices in your driving decisions. Seems the pics are coming along. I myself favor the one of the canal. Nice spot. Glad it was enjoyable & thanks for sharing.
I'm still waiting for that late Fall weather for walkabouts.

Great pics. Good to see the puddle drying up.

I remember being able to drive through it. Ironic that the bypass is in worse shape now. 3' ruts? Enough to swallow even my old Jeep.

To All

Thank you all for the very warm responses to my outing and my pictures.

Guy, anytime, you're the man.

Ben and others, it is a shame that if it were not for the puddle and a short stretch of road further east of the puddle, a car could easily traverse to where i walked on calico warren grove road.

Besides that stretch on the batona where my car got stuck on an earlier trip to calico, and which me and my friend will try to fill in when it gets cooler, i am now thinking of how to make the puddle section serviceable for cars.

In the late 70's i got through this section in my z-28, i forget how the road was then though, 29 years is some time.

Thanks again Jim

Personally I'm not convinced that it's a shame; it isn't such a bad thing to have some places which aren't easily accessible to cars...

Looking at the big picture, yes, i am in total agreement.

On the other hand, a cheapo get me to point a and b and back 4 by 4 is the answer for me.
