Last night Laura and I took a quick drive through the Forked River Mountains. It ended up being too dark for me to find the road up to the top of the mountain, but the road that leads past the mountain, and ultimately past the Ironside Gun Club had evidence of trees and brush cut down on either side of the road.

Anybody have any idea whats up with that?

I saw that too on the ironsides road this weekend. I will find out. I was in Texas on a trip until last nite and forgot to follow up...

Ben,

If you remember when we were there almost a year ago they had survey stakes all along that road.

I have not seen these cleared areas yet, is it like the areas that were cleared on webbs mill rd. and jones rd.? There are two areas in double trouble that were cleared in 1991 that had some thing to do with a forest management plan. There are two sings hidden by over grown pines, I can't remember what they say. Is the area inside the FMR wildlife management area? If so maybe it has something to do with habitat management. second growth forest produces more food and cover for wildlife than mature forest, also why was that large area cleared on Friendship road on the left hand side going from speedwell to friendship?

They could be using the road as an easement to run pipes or lines. ?????
