A few of my friends and I are getting together for drinks at the TGI Fridays in Toms River on Friday, Jan 27th to celebrate my birthday which is today. :) I will be there around 9, for anybody who is interested in sharing a beer. :guinness:

Hey Ben,
Your birthday is now passed in NJ, but it's still your birthday here in South Dakota (only 11:50pm here)
-so...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Told my wife I wanted to go out for a drink friday night to celebrate a friend's birthday and she thought that was cool, 'til she found out it was in New Jersey!
Come t'think of it, I probably ought to worry if she thought that would be fine....

Best regards,
Dave

Happy birthday Ben!
Only in your 20's eh?
You have put together quite a site with your knowledge of computers in your young life.
I guess you got a real computer for your first birthday instead of the Fisher- Price Busy Box that I had screwed to the slats of my crib back in 1958!

I got my first computer - an Atari 800xl - back when I was 6. I didn't have an IBM compatable until I was 16. I started doing HTML & Websites back in 1995-1996.

I still say I should have been an electrician or something instead of going into computers.

The first computer I was exposed to I never actually saw.
It was at Drexel in 1976 and you had to keypunch your data and hand the keypunch cards over to a non-english speaking Iranian grad student.
The class was taught by a broken-english speaking Chinese professor.
The grad student would run them through the computer, which we were told was housed in another building.
You had to come back in a few hours for a printout of your results.
I hated Drexel and transferred to Rutgers in 1977 and changed my major to Natural Resource Management.
Much happier life.

Heh. I'm the same age as Ben and the very first time I used a computer was as a freshman in college in 1996. I had no idea how the internet functioned, and found the stupid Maple program we had to use for email so daunting that I didn't even use email for an entire year. Seems weird that 10 years later I'm online most of my waking hours, and more than half of my job involves working with complex databases.

I used to use a for-real typewriter in high school.

Ben,
As an afterthought, now if you were going to Basil T's for real beer and good food, might consider the trip.
Lynn

I am not a huge fan of Basil T's beer. The food is good, though. I also prefer the one in Red Bank to the one in Toms River.
