I am fine thanks. Yes, they did look in my ear. I received a patient survey to fill out, and I am going to send the photo back with it. I have no animosity towards them, just would like them to know that maybe something more serious in one of their patients may be missed.

It's good to hear (no pun intended) your better.

Would you feel the same if a mechanic forgot the cotter pin on your spindle nut of your car and the wheel fell off and you crashed and wrecked your car....You would have no animosity toward him too? Remember people make mistakes.....
I think not! You or anyone else would not just let the mechanic off the hook so easy. Maybe mechanics should have surveys. LOL
A car is replaceable and the cotter pin was only .15, an ear or hearing is not.
Giving them a bad survey will not fix a thing, hitting them in the pocket may but I doubt it...........Mike

I am a firm believer that everyone makes mistakes, and if they did not do it deliberately, and all works out well in the end, what is the point in pushing the issue?

Your probably rite. No point in pushing the issue. Maybe they (ER) couldn't see the stick as it was too deep and after time it popped up some on it's own to where the specialist could see it. If that is the case maybe they (ER) are not at fault.

I suggest you pay the co-pay (negative survey will not get you out of this)because the hospital will not be so lenient towards you when the take you to collections for it...........Mike
 
Went back for the final visit today, and it has healed. I have some hearing loss that may have been caused by this or maybe I already had it. Anyway, yearly visits from now on.

Hopefully this is the final update. The sound of the blood flowing through my ear returned right after the so called final visit, and I went again and spoke with a different doctor. He basically told me to live with it since people have that problem frequently. But the next Monday morning I received a call from him very early in the morning informing me he had been thinking about my problem and asked if I might want a CT scan to insure there was nothing left inside. Obviously, I want to find that out, so last week I had it done.

They injected a drug called Optiray 300 into me to enhance the scan which makes you feel like you are on fire. It is an odd feeling. Anyway, the sound had diminished by then and now is completely gone. This morning was my final visit for him to read the scans, but not before I looked them over closely myself. I came to the conclusion there was nothing left in my ear, and both my doctor and the reader of the images both agree.

Here is one of the scans. The arrow points to the dark open area behind the drum where something would have shown up if it was in there.

I am glad the roaring has gone away and that you are back to your old self. And Guy? Next time you feel like getting your ear pierced, try going to a professional! :mrgreen:
