Not detailed, but something

Yes, better than nothing. I'm surprised it went north at sometime in it's life. If a glass object, such as a bottle did not start this fire, then someone did, either unintentionally or not.

I live in Cape May County and when I woke up this morning I jumped out of bed because the smell of smoke was so strong I thought my house was on fire. Not sure if that smoke is drifting in from Ocean County or Cumberland County.

They are at least doing more detailed maps. But I agree it’s not a lot of info especially if you are close by.
Here it is, 2025, and we are still blind. We should be able to see this happening in real time, via defense-level satellites or aircraft. We should be able to watch it on a computer: "oh, a firebrand just jumped the parkway north of exit 69, heading towards those houses north of 532 in Waretown...tell them to move out now". I'll bet even firefighters can't see everything.

Burnt pine bark all over my patio. Sky is mean looking from here.

Conditions are very favorable for a sea breeze to develop this afternoon, hence a lot of backfiring ongoing to the north. Hopes it'll run back into what's already burnt out when the wind shifts southeast.

This fire makes me rethink some of my thoughts on nj forest fires. This moved violently and fast. Also reminds me of the thread of how much time you have to get out of forest if a fire breaks out. Def humbling…

I haven't noticed a smokey smell today or yesterday at my place here in Western Atlantic County, about 6 miles "as the crow flies" from the Cumberland fire (32 miles from the Ocean County fire). Yesterday I was going down Mays Landing Road (rt 552) and there was no evidence of the Cumberland fire visible at all. Turned off at Cannon Range Rd and went South through Peaslee but still no signs of the fire there. I did notice a smokey smell in the air but didn't see any smoke. I thought that fire was pretty much contained now?

Having spent a lot of time out in that area for over 10 years, I don't recall any controlled burns being done out there in recent memory. Along the powerlines from Clayton to the GSP would be an ideal spot.

It appears the Forked River Mountain may have been burned or at least it got close.

It was strange. The smell of smoke was strong at 7am, but by 8am it dissipated. Then as I was pulling into Stone Harbor coming from the Parkway I could see a white hazy smoke in the air and could smell it. I’m guessing that smoke is coming from the fires in Ocean County.

There was a serious house fire in Millville today on the same street as one the other day, and my daughter said the smell was intense.
