All,

Bobpbx and I did some exploring today looking for various plants that are blooming now. We concentrated on a few small area's so our finds were limited and as usual some of my photo's did not turn out as well as I had hoped. In any event, here are a few from today.

Bob and Guy,
No doubt you should be on NJN with a nature show. Guy you are great with the camera and Bob you describe the terrain clearly even for novices and you are hilarious without even trying!

There actually were plans for something like that but we never got it off the ground. Maybe next year.

I need to buy a new HD camera with image stabilization. The new HD camera I have does not have that so it is very hard to keep it from shaking. Plus, I am very annoyed that the quality of the video's on youtube look really poor. I have tried at least 20 different settings that they recomend and some of my own and the quality sucks. They look so nice in my computer. If I get a minute tomorrow I will upload one of the shorter ones to my website and post the link. It will be a large download but you will be able to se the quality difference.

Finally had a chance to watch these. They are terrific Bob and Guy. I wouldn't worry too much about the quality issues either - I think they look fine and the content is really what matters.

I think it might have been NJ Rush that cut up the legs of Whipoorbill and I when we were young and rash enought to descend tulpehocken creek from carranza rd to hawkins bridge in shorts in one day.There was a clingy grass that had a velcro type surface to the underside of the blades and it literally ripped the skin from our shins after a couple miles of wandering through it.This stuff grows along many boggy creeks so if nj rush is rare it may not have been it.

If anyone is interested in trying, here is the full quality video of one that I uploaded to youtube. However, the video camera records the video in MP4 format and some browsers don't display it, they just download it. So if you give this a try it may display or download and you can decide if you want to give either choice a try. In my computer Firefox downloaded it and Safari played it. Your milage may vary.

It is 40MB so give it time. Let me know if you think the quality on youtube is poor.

Alfie, what you and whip ran into was probably Rice cutgrass. I wouldn't recommend sliding it over your lips!

Al, chances are that is wild rice cut grass you encountered. It is more and more prevalent these days, even on the upper reaches of the Batsto.

Sorry Tom, I answered Al without going further and looking at your post. Yup, you are right.

Guy; I see the quality change...very apparent. By the way, the one of me in the water with the chair?....the current was the force that drove me backward. That was the morning after the big storms Friday nite.
