Is email on the way out??

The two men who developed Google Earth have come up with a new way to communicate on the web that they say will make email obsolete.

I can't get past the thought that when using this program everyone will be able to see what you are typing as you type. I just can't see me letting anyone see what I am typing before I send it. It would be embarrassing.

God, no. Text messaging is already too real-time, and interrupts my train of thought and working processes fifteen or twenty times a day.

I do more communication through Facebook and IM than I do through email thesedays.

If you have some time here is a preview of how it works. It takes quite a bit of time to watch but in the first 5 minutes you get the idea. It is interesting but not something I want to use.

We had something like that at work 15 years ago. We had a choice between that and regular email when communicating inside the company, and nobody liked it or ever used it.
