Only in New Jersey can a mayor violate DEP rules twice, say "oh, I had no idea" and get off without any sort of problems or fine.

Meanwhile if you take a quad down a trail in the woods, the DEP is more than happy to confiscate it and fine you $1000.

What's more dangerous? Building a park on top of a former dump, or some person on an ATV?

Meanwhile, the DEP is investigating an unrelated incident in Johnson Park. A department inspector visited the park July 19 on a tip from residents and found workers building an access road, through wetlands, without the necessary approvals. The mayor said at the time he did not know he needed approval to build the road.

Well put. Another thing that bugs me is that everyone goes after ATV's, did someone forget about dirt bikes? I am an ATV rider but most of my friends ride enduro or motocross bikes. Most of them ride in the local hare scrambles and enduro races. Even though some have insurance and even somehow managed to get a license plate their bikes are technically illegal to ride in the woods. Just drives me nuts because in the papers and such everyone says ATV this and ATV that when their are plenty of dirt bikes out there too. I'm done. Thanks.
 
I get the point about questionable priorities when it comes to enforcing things like environmental violations... but aside from that, what does that article or this thread have to do with ATV's? :confused:
