a monster storm; 30-40 inches of rain  It will most likely affect the entire country with increases in fuel cost once the refineries shutdown.

Pretty amazing event, will probably be the worst ever. Another big one, Irma, on the way. They are already starting to worry about it.

I've been following this one too. It's expected to become a cat 4 in the next day or so but it's a long way out.

WOWZA!! 180 mph Cat 5 Irma, most powerful ever measured in an Atlantic hurricane north of the Caribbean and east of the Gulf of Mexico, so far. I would hate to be in Key West.

If anything, ya hope it goes out to sea, but by the looks of it, please, don't get into the Gulf again and make a turn toward Texas!

TS Jose is right behind it and something new is brewing in the Gulf. Southern FL appears to be its heading according to NHC discussion, supposed to make a right turn as it nears the Keys which now have a mandatory evac order.

Puerto Rico is going to get slammed. Worst in 100 years for them.

I went there a few years ago and really enjoyed it. It was my compromise for my wife wanting to go on an "island" vacation. I refused to go to a place where machine gun wielding para-military walk the streets outside of your luxury hotel and you are not free to explore on your own. We rented a Jeep, stayed in a mountain casita and a few B&B's. We explored El Yunque, fished, kayaked at night in a bioluminescent lagoon and went to the Arecibo Observatory. No shots fired and I would go back again.

I wish the people well with this hurricane

Nature played a cruel joke on my sister. She and her husband drove west from Port St. Lucie on the east coast to Tampa to a relative's home to get out of the eye, and then when Irma shifted west she had to drive all the way back, bringing the relative with them. You can't make this stuff up.
