To add fuel to the fire, maybe by the time the meteorite hit, it was in the shape of a donut, with the center burned away.

Just having fun here (I think).

Who says it can't be both?

I was thinking of something when I saw that. Legend goes (and I think it's true), one went down in the Forked River Mountain area in, like, 1920 or so. They saw it from Bamber, and they had to walk out there to see it.

You told me when we were there it was 1912. I actually looked for information on that and did not find any. Maybe the Asbury Park Press may have something in their files.

That's been brought up before. It's along the Factory Branch. Some kind of loop up a high spot and back out again. I've been there before.
Like Bob said, There is nothing discernible there. I went there 2 days after it was burned by the county/state. It is next to a trail that takes you to the Tuckerton Railroad. The trail it seems was used as the fire break. It is close to the stream and on a slight hill. Maybe it was an old hunting camp spot since it was close to a water source.
