Story has been right at the top of the CNN News all morning, didn't hear anything new, mostly reaction to the Homeland/FBI statement from some unhappy North Jersey mayors.

Last night I caught part of a segment with Neil DeGrassi Tyson, I don't think he's followed this at all, he seemed to think they wanted him to discuss whether they were UFO's and aliens (which nobody has claimed). Also went for a cheap laugh with a joke like "...if it were aliens who could go anywhere, do you really think they'd choose New Jersey?" I always liked him, but that segment was pretty embarassing.

No wonder people are confused... :ninja:

Joint DHS/FBI Statement on Reports of Drones in New Jersey:
"There are no reported or confirmed drone sightings in any restricted air space."

Statement by Naval Weapons Station Earle public affairs officer:
"While no direct threats to the installation have been identified, we can confirm multiple instances of unidentified drones entering the airspace above Naval Weapons Station Earle"

Looks like two airplanes to me. Whatever the answer is to this, I don't think it will be found at Jersey Coast Emergency News (or anywhere on Facebook). Just sayin'... :D

I'm wondering if an f-16 can even fly slow enough to follow a drone without stalling. I thought most drones are propeller-driven, and not particularly fast compared to prop planes.

Guess the Washington Post has changed its policy. Now you need to create an account to accept "gifts". Beware of Bezos bearing gifts? :D Thanks for posting but I'll pass...

I think the reason we are seeing all of the drone activity in New Jersey is to manipulate CONGRESS to pass H.R. 8610 (Counter-UAS Authority Security, Safety and Reauthorization Act of 2024). The current FAA Act of 2018 expires on the 20th of this month. It doesn't take that much effort to get everyone worked up and spooked. I will take my tinfoil cap off now. :worms:

One more thing to add.

"The reason we need legal authority is that without it, use of the most effective types of drone detection and counter-drone technologies could violate criminal laws, including those that prohibit destroying or disabling aircraft in flight and intercepting signals and communications," said Brad Wiegmann, the DOJ's deputy assistant attorney general for national security.

The FBI, Homeland Security and probably a half dozen other alphabet agencies either don’t know where these drones are coming from or won’t say where they’re coming from, but if one of them flies through a toll booth the state of NJ will move heaven and earth to locate their home base so they know where to mail the fine. :D
