quick observation / question: I was making my way through Peaslee in early April and followed a new fire line that was started on Maries Rd. and headed west towards the Manumuskin and the Vineland border. I noticed that along the sides of Maries Rd. the fire guys cut a pretty good amount of vegetation, especially around the area where the Cedar Branch crosses the road. Some of my favorite magnolias were just obliterated. I am absolutely not an expert in this arena so I was curious as to why they needed to be done away with; maybe better access for the trucks? It just seemed like it was done haphazardly. When I left the thick of it, I noticed one of the guys in the crew, calmly putting out a cigarette butt on the forest floor, but he left before I could ask.
