This morning Ro, her son Jim, and I went to Parker Preserve to monitor our two botany test sites. While there Ro spotted a great horned owl sitting on a hummock in a bog near the dike road; it appeared sick or hurt. There were feathers around it. We called Dr. Emil De Vito, Manager Natural Resources at NJCF, who came and captured the bird. We took it to Cedar Run Wildlife Hospital. There the Assistant Director said the bird appeared to be a juvenile, was very emaciated, that they would attempt to bring it back to health and then release it at Parker.
