Anyone else notice a problem? It has been intermittent, but sometimes the page will take forever, or not load at all. Took me a few tries to post this thread. Has been like this all evening for me. Other sites seem to be fine though.

Same thing just now. I timed 20 seconds waiting for the forum home page to load but it seemed to be stalled. Tried a second time and it was ok. But it took awhile to just open this thread.

My previous post timed out - I saw the "marching dots" at the top of the screen continuously and then an alert popped up that the server wasn't responding, try again. Hitting the Post button again worked. Let's see if this one goes through on the first try.... :)

Maybe I wasn't clear. The alert that said the server wasn't responding didn't come from my computer or my browser. It was an error message from the forum software itself - like the alert window that appears if you want to mark the forums read.

The site is pretty much unusable for me today. I had to refresh the page many times just to get it to work now.

I never noticed it. Maybe it depends upon the path (handoff through servers). Not necessarily the site.

It's intermittent. But I think the problem is on the server end and not our computers or internet connections. When you make a post (for example), there is a series of "marching boxes" at the top right of the page. These are generated by the forum software while it is executing the request. I noticed that these boxes just continued to march when I posted, and finally it timed out said the server wasn't responding. So this was all happening at the web hosting company, and not on my end.

Happened again, just like I described above. This is like toture trying to post, it takes several tries. Here is what the error message looks like

So this was all happening at the web hosting company, and not on my end.

When you hit the enter button, your request can go thru any number of servers, it is not just a here to there. This is an example of a trace to 'forums.njpinebarrens.com', 28 hops, obtained using yougetsignal.com

As already mentioned, I have had no issues at all accessing or posting to this site and have never seen 'marching boxes'.

I am just now seeing this. People should ping me directly when they see issues as I don't read every thread here anymore.

Anyway, I've noticed some sluggishness with the server when I log in to it directly. I'm going to bounce it and see if that makes a difference.

Edit: Probably won't clear it up. Looks like a lot of latency on Cogent's network.

Also, that error is coming from the forums javascript running in your browser. If the server isn't responding it's not going to be able to respond enough to send you an error message. It's timing out waiting for confirmation that the message was posted.

I've opened up a support case with my provider to have them look into their network connection. Nothing has changed on the server and there's not a lot of load going on on it so I think the problem has to be elsewhere.

It is interesting to know that I can add text to the site by using "code." I may have a reason to do that sometime.
