That's not good that they've been eaten.

Where was the last photo taken? That's the invasive stilt grass Jessica is standing in. I've yet to see it in Cape May, and in fact, none wherever I've gone this year.

Is that Eurybia spectabilis (Showy Aster)
No, but as a consolation prize, I tried to make it that in the technical manuals, because I remember spectabilis fondly from the 1990's. This particular plant is most often found (in our pines) in old dry fields, sandy roadsides, edges of firetrails in the sun, etc.
