That second pic is eight minutes drive from my house.I recognized it immediately. There is a real nice blue hole just south of there alongside bear swamp that is not natural trust land.to get there from that crossing you have to cross posted land but if you move further west down the tracks and then head south through open woods you can get there legally. It's worth the trip and some nice huge old gum and maples and beech in that area if you know where to go.

Al, The Dividing Creek vicinity is at the top of my favorite areas of NJ (at least it was before the race track). I have fond memories of birdwatching this area with my father when I was very young. It always held such mystery to me. I will certainly be searching for that hole in due time. I adore walking that section of tracks, there are some incredible swampy spots right along the rails that look like something straight out of Georgia or Florida and host some incredible bird and amphibian life. Thanks for the tip!

Here are some shots from Dividing Creek/Downe (Edward G. Bevan WMA) at sunrise. This time of year is just magic down there.

My Spot
This small, swampy pond is my favorite spot in New Jersey. In mid-May it is overflowing with life. Fantastic bird species are setting up breeding territories, amphibians are hopping and calling from every direction. It looks like something straight out of south Georgia. I birded this area with my Father when I was very young. This is what got me hooked on the pine barrens. Welcome to my spot.

Going In

There is simply nothing on our little spinning ball quite like dawn in the pines.

Very nice "My Spot!" Isn't it nice that what your father showed you is still magical to you.

Really good stuff Chase. Really good. I especially like the sun on the leaves and warbler in that shot. I really worship that kind of dappled sun.
