I was not aware they were two different cemeteries.I thought it was all Leek McKean and often wondered why some of the stones were outside of the fence and not all were included inside of the fence.Never seen two cemeteries side by side like that before.Are they on state property? Who owns them?

I'm not certain of ownership. I'm fairly sure it is the township. Tax maps list it as exempted, but not State of NJ or DEP. I will ask some very knowledgeable local folks this week and get you an answer.

Interesting reads h20. I've always been a little puzzled by the long, tall shape of Bass River Township. The northernmost corner begins far up the plains where the Ocean County/Burlington County line meet, and after heading west past Stevenson's road, travels down the papoose branch and Oswego all the way to the Wading.

I'd be proud to live in Bass River Township. It has a lot of beauty and a lot of history.
