The booby traps were located across the road from his camp. As you mentioned he hated motorcycles and these traps were aimed at motorcycles. Somebody on foot would have no issue unless they literally ran into them.

Bass River State Forest
I know the spot well, as I check on it once in a while. It's about 500 ft SSW along a path going off the CCC (Orange) Trail at Bass River SF. It's private property beyond (west of) that sign, and East Branch Bass River is somewhere back there. I don't know the history or who Hollins is. On old tax maps, there is a crossing track here, but I've never seen any evidence of it on the ground.

I have to say you are correct. Not sure where the orange trail is but your description seems accurate.

The soon to be barren Orange Trail ? :(
The CCC (Orange) trail is just about 4 miles long. The two parts of the trail that run alongside or through areas to be cleared total about 0.18 miles, which is 4.5% of the trail.

I'm hoping they will allow a trail reroute onto some nearby woods roads that avoid the work areas completely. At least while the work is being done, and maybe after too. Those roads are nice. Better condition than the one that goes to Hollins Swamp.

This bridge is right ahead of Jessica in the above photo. A clue is on a tree.

We were looking for property stones and crossed it.

Bull Creek Bridge. I do not recall the tiles the last time I was there in 2013.
