Can't say whether it is connected or not, but ive noticed a much greater Park Police presence since the new Map was announced. A few weeks ago there seemed to be a large gathering of Park Police at the Ranger Station. Didnt realize they had that many vehicles, let alone all on duty at the same time. The other day, I saw Park Police vehicle parked back by where the motorcycle and horse people usually park. He seemed to be watching a motorcycle guy load up from a distance. I never saw him approach the motorcyclist, but he was still watching when I left. And not just in Wharton - this past weekend I drove down Oswego Road and saw a Park Police vehicle parked a bit off the road, almost like it was a speed trap

They have been giving tickets according to some individuals. So it was at least in some way most likely a speed trap.

The Park Police have always been out there patrolling and issuing tickets. I don't believe it anything new.

Plastic markers have just gone up on many trails in the Carranza Monument area.
Have not been down there in a while. I did see the fence blocking Cherry Hill road near Atsion. I thought it looked like someone went around it but I could not be sure as I sped by.

The state has closed another road in recent days with a wooden barrier at Raritan and Sandy Causeway near the plastic Bridge. To clarify, it is Raritan that is blocked on the east side of Sandy Causeway. That would be here.

To be honest I have not been there yet to see it but was told that it now is there. I was at that intersection about a week ago and it was not. Unless it is further down the road where I could not see it.

If you haven't noticed they have also blocked with wooden barriers these two road off of 532. Both roads do not really go through but they are roads that I use as well as hunters and other individuals.

This one goes to the bogs south of 532.

Guy still up at 9:50 pm? You really are living the good life now. You were in bed by 8:30 when you worked.

I am a free man Bob :) In reality I still have to go to bed semi early. My family gets up at 4:45AM which means I am up. But my wife and I walk 3 miles when we get up and a few days we walked 8 miles, going to Cooper River and other parks. We stopped in at work which is right along Cooper river and spent a couple minutes there. Most everyone was in meetings so I only saw a few people. I left thinking I am glad I am free.

I was up working on researching the family tree. My grandmother (dad's mom) grew up with her aunt and I don't believe she even knew that. She told me before she died her brother left home with the intention of moving west and was never heard of again. It turns out it was her cousin. I have found her mother, her siblings, and various other information that she was unaware of and my brother and I will be visiting the cemeteries in Philly and here in NJ to find them. Some of the cemeteries in Philly are being fixed up but I think a few graves are in the woods. Some have been moved and others I have emails in asking where they are in the cemeteries. Death from tuberculosis and syphilis occurred with a few. But a few siblings made it to the 1970s so she missed out on even knowing of them. I am sure you have the feeling that I now do, that there is nobody left in my family except my brother and kids to talk to about this. My brother and I are now the only ones left from my dad's family. If not for my dad's Aunt giving me a few things years ago I would not know anything that I know now.

Funny, I was a "night owl" since childhood and my career in the Theatre was a good fit, where the crew and tech staff are there long after the audience goes home (not to mention my long commute from Center City Philadelphia). Then I was back for an 8 AM call next morning to supervise the crews which was rough (and a major factor in my retirement in 2011).

A few years ago, I pretty much flipped my schedule and now go to bed around 9 and get up about 5 in the morning. Really enjoying it and have to admit that Guy's posts about his early mornings in the Pines were a factor in the change. :)

I’m very fearful they are going to put more of these blockades up. The one at raritan is simply annoying since the road is out further up anyway. I haven’t explored much yet but im guessing they will be putting more and more of these up. The dirt bikes were already going right around the blockades. All this prevents is normal people like hunters and guys like us driving sand roads to access areas. If you don’t let people enjoy these roads they eventually lose interest on the whole area. I agree with the people pushing this stuff a lot, but in this case I don’t agree.

That is the same size barrier at my links above. They must have a limited number of pieces of wood and only used one here. Most likely they wanted to be able to go around it.

We were out that way Sat with a few Jeeps and noticed this closure also. All the side trails along Sandy Causeway had new whips installed also.

...Most likely they wanted to be able to go around it.

I looked at that and figured rather than having people making a go around they just left them room to go around. They know it's not going to stop the people causing problems...

A member of this site was at the end of Cherry Hill Road at Batsto Fireline road and the state has blocked Cherry Hill Road at the end now. It was recently blocked at 206 and now I found out they also blocked it at the below link. Photo provided by a member here.
