The governor wants the departments to cut 5 percent so I suggest the DEP save millions of dollars by not purchasing signs and scrapping the MAP and anything to do with it.

I really think this map is a way to enforce fines when needed. I feel like most people if not destroying areas and just passing through will be warned or just advised. I’m hopeful this is just a way to levy fines when people are clearly abusing areas. Having a pretty good knowledge of having to rely on park police im not sure how they have the resources to monitor activity. There are lots of park police in Atsion lake area during season. You occasionally see them near caranza/batona. Otherwise unless they massively expand resources im not sure this will actually impact anyone. I hope im right otherwise this is really a foolish thing.

I believe you are correct. They don't want to harass people and nothing makes me think they will start doing that. However, we have to worry about the worm who will call if they see a car on one of those roads. Once they get a call they will tell you not to come back and if you do, and they see you, then it would be personal to them.

I wonder if they dropped it sooner than planned knowing the governor will be asking for cuts. Maybe..maybe not.

I've been trying to make sense of this map, aligning it besides aerials on Boyd's Maps, and it wasn't making sense. Now I know why, it's not fully North up.

They seem to like that approach for some reason. I mentioned it when I georeferenced the new MAP (or whatever they call it now) about a year ago...

Open Trails has a new reel to watch. Check it out if you have Facebook. Those against this fiasco will enjoy it. Turn the volume up.

I say we stage a Drive In. All of us pick some closed roads that are open at both ends and do a drive through,Maybe get it on the news.Big signs on top of vehicles saying PPA Can Kiss Our A$$. I wouldn't no how to organize that event but I"d sure as hell be there

Fines are $500 for the first offense according to that article.

Looks like the park police got their orders from the DEP. Now its enforce and intimidate to keep everyone off the newly deemed illegal roads. I am in agreement with stopping all of the mentioned offenses, however what really aggravates me is the sudden motivation to do so. Too little too late, these type of offenses should have been addresses way prior to the closing option and we see now it is possible to patrol the area and make a difference. They just decided to showcase it and intimidate the public by bundling it with the map. I am certain enforcement prior was avoided to further their case for implementing the map. Enforce should have been plan #1 a long time ago.
