Looking at it, I think that'd be a hard pull. It was chosen carefully.

I don't know if it's possible to get on the near side of it, but if it is i think you could tie a cable to the right side of it and swing it around the stump, and then. Even if the big stump remains in place it looks like enough room to drive around it on the right. From the far side, though, the tree would block that maneuver and you'd have to try to drag the stump around. You could chainsaw your way through it too if u didn't care about the noise.

All,

I drove Paradise Drive again to visit the ponds where the state placed the large tree across the road (Post 153 above) and they have placed another one not far from the first one. Jessica is going around the new one and the original tree is at the arrow.

A took a ride down 206 to the other end of the road and after a very short distance up the road I did not see a blockage. However, I did not go far and I expect one to be there.

I have to wonder if the state approved this, or if they even know of it.

Typical example of the idiocy of these closures, that road is pristine. I would love to know what the reason was to close that road as well as many others. Sure wasn't motorized vehicle abuse, and then someone goes and drops tress to keep people out. Man, I guess a few tire tracks in the sand may just collapse the entire forest ecosystem. If you ask me those downed trees look like hell on a nice sand road. To me thats abuse.

If past experience is any indication... "IF" the DEP dropped this. There would be some signage alongside saying NO. So the SPP could enforce it if needed.

More than likely itsa freelance effort. Similar to all the branches that were dragged across the designated bicycle trails several years ago. (One rider caught some of the culprits in the act. They were not DEP employees.)

I'll defer to the folks that know about these things. But I'll guess a winch and snatch block or two would resolve the issue quickly.

All I can say is the owner of Paradise Lakes told me it wasn't him.

I think this; the first person on this forum who comes across a state employee in the woods, should ask them about this situation. Another method would be a phone call to the rangers office in Atsion, asking the question "why"? Because this was definitely not the act of a typical pine barren joe shmoe.

Close enuff coordinates: 39.689959 74.739230 South side of Albertson Brook and WNW of Paradise Lake Campground.

If I remember correctly, as I walked down that road with the two spungs, there were nice heavy duty wooden barriers in front of them. If the State wanted to close off that road in question, I would think a similar barrier would have been placed at the foot of that road.

Jessica and I helped put up those wooden barriers at the pond with the large fence. The other one was being put in by others. I believe I posted photos at the time.

I believe I recall someone mentioned "What if there's an emergency & 1st responders couldn't get to a location because the road was closed?"
Recently while camping at Godfrey Bridge & walking along GB Road towards Washington Tpk, I noticed these......

I followed the path all the way to the banks of the river where the location was clearly posted .......
wading mile 10.JPG

So if someone suffered a medical emergency, and the arrived at Wading mile 10, would they be told to press on to Godfrey Bridge because that little road is closed?
Sadly, along the way I saw this fox met his demise. I'll assume coyotes?

btw, I saw no cameras in use.

As for the camera's, make sure you look really high as well whenever you look. If you get out of your vehicle at intersections for any reason look again and also look high.

Jessica on the left helping to put up the barriers at the pond. Actually, this may be one of the other ones we put up but it was the same day.
