There was a fire along Maple Branch road a few years ago. Jess and I were told about a charcoal pit that the FFS bulldozers uncovered. While there down a remote road a man on a bicycle appeared. We talked with him for a while.

07/12/22 @ 1120 hrs- Section B2 ‘Maple Branch Wildfire’ Wharton State Forest, Washington Twp area of Bulltown Rd and Maple Branch Rd

Fire has reached 40 acres with 15% containment. NJFFS crews are backfiring to aid in containment. NJFFS helicopter Delta 2 is currently over the fire. Batsto Village, Buttonwood Campground and all associated hiking trails from Batsto Village are closed. Bulltown Road is also closed. 7 structures continue to be under threat. Updated 1545 hrs

Henry Charlton Beck ran across an artist, Ned Knox, that rode a bicycle through the Pine Barrens looking for subjects to paint. I have no idea how he made it through sugar sand though.
