DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

Not to mention which ones that are slated to be open that are either inaccessible or impassable.

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

I am so aggravated the extent that the PPA will go to vilify good any law abiding citizens that don’t agree with their ideas. Blatant deception and lies.

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

No they aren’t currently. But it’s been mentioned several times that there should be areas of Wharton that should be “preserved”. I fear closing off sections of sensitive areas is not to far in the distant future and walking off trail would be prohibited. Walking off trail was the main reason...

    Dr. Greene

I actually removed after a brief discussion I felt it was best not to show the exact location. But all the information that I used to find it is still there

Or it’s a “win win” for both sides. How can he speak for me? The most telling is he feels this plan is “incredibly generous”. If it were up to them all vehicles would be prohibited.

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

Yes those puddles on Buldozed Road (Push Line Road to me) need to be addressed. Over the years just about every road on that current list was impassable at one time or another. I can think of several, right off the top of my head, that were repaired years ago and the only evidence that a...

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

This is apples to oranges. Those parks also allow ATVs and snowmobiles. Should I be pushing for that like other parks do?

NJ Establishes Nonprofit Parks and Open Space Foundation

Thought the same thing when I saw it last week. Maybe with more funding they won’t need to close anything

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

I noticed Stokes Road. I was curious as to what they saw different between 2015 and a 2023. Why is the section that goes through the wetlands is open and the section that doesn’t is now closed? In 2017 or so that road was repaired well from Hampton Road to the rail line. If that can be done why...

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

I got caught in work yesterday and didn’t get home until very late. When I did, I did the same as just about everyone else. I started looking at all the maps. It didn’t take very long at all to realize that this map is almost a carbon copy of 2015. After briefly looking through all the maps and...

Action News’ Chopper Six crashes in wooded area of New Jersey; pilot and photographer killed

Two weeks ago when I was there it was not. While we were walking out 2 trucks came back and parked at the end. It’s actually a wide road and has an open space cleared where the probably staged equipment while they were working. It’s a short road and I doubt it would get abused since it’s high...

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

I had a hard time between these two also. The wording is a little confusing to me. Choice three says areas. I don’t feel any “road” should be closed even if it passes through an area of possible T&E spiecies. 1/4 mile is an area that should be closed but High Crossing Road should not be in my...

Action News’ Chopper Six crashes in wooded area of New Jersey; pilot and photographer killed

A couple of weeks ago we found ourselves on Quaker Bridge Road. We decided to go down Mullica River Road. We found a new road marked every 50 yards in both sides. We walked the road to its end. It ends at the crash site. About a 1/2 mile off the main road. We could smell the jet fuel before we...

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

It wasn’t me that said the wind was howling. But it’s howling here. Sounds like it’s going to be a long night. My kids came home saying all the teachers told them that they weren’t going to have school tomorrow or at least a two hour delay.

    Where is this?

I don’t know that tree but the background looks like the cranberry bogs on Dave’s Road.

I guess it could be worse. Sounds like next week Indiana is going to get hammered with the next storm mid week. We won’t get much though.

    Hiking along Central Jersey line

I heard about it back in the summer. I assumed it was known about by the time we went. I also figured that the reason the road going back to it was opened up possibly to get equipment back there to put it out. I’m not exactly sure when it burnt.

    Hiking along Central Jersey line

I was told last summer that someone burnt that trestle, although they told me that I was the Clark Branch. A couple months ago we made it out to confirm. The Clark branch is ok but we walked up on that as well. It’s definitely arson there was no forest fire there recently. Also it looks like...

    Tar Kiln Locations?

If you go back and look at the other location, it also uses the topography to help. The barrel hole is on the lower side with the higher ground to the north. Also the one I explored seemed to have a trench on the outside of the berm leading up to the barrel hole.
