    Goshen in Camden or Burlington?

Yes I have. We have only been doing small patches of briars at a time. I’m easing him in lol. He doesn’t even want to wear gloves most of the time. It was kind of thick in a couple of spots there so he’s learning that proper clothing and gloves help. He will be a pro in no time.

    Goshen in Camden or Burlington?

Yes. A couple of our spots to explore were ones he picked out. My daughter does too and goes most of the time too.

    Goshen in Camden or Burlington?

I missed you by a day. My son and I spent a good part of the day on Saturday around there and even stopped at that location too. A couple of weeks ago the water was high and completely covered it. Was spent most of our time around the “New” pond by the campground. We followed a canal that...

    Texas Tower #4

Here is another interesting wreck off NJ that fascinated me too. https://oceanexplorer.noaa.gov/projects/01s5/history/history.html

    Texas Tower #4

I’ve read several books on shipwrecks that covered it. I’ve actually fished over it a few times.

    Goshen in Camden or Burlington?

That’s pretty much what I thought. I thought it was odd that so much was taken from that bank. And so much was added to both sides of the bank in that spot.

    Goshen in Camden or Burlington?

I’m hoping to get out there either today or tomorrow and possibly have more info on the canal and possible uses. In the meantime I have something else to ponder. A while ago I’ve noticed an area that seemed dug out just above the current pond and camp ground. It seems a lot of material was...

    Goshen in Camden or Burlington?

From exploring the area the area the best evidence of the cranberry bogs are at the southern end of your “Westerly Cripple”. Also what I think is remnants of a barn or packing house on the Burlington County side. Going by memory I can’t think of any place for the “Easterly Cripple” between the...

    Goshen in Camden or Burlington?

Very interesting. Something else to ponder while I’m out there lol. It’s funny my son and I were just out there over this past weekend on the road to old Goshen mill. We found several old cellar holes and wondered how old they could be. I can’t make out where it says the road goes to in your...

    Pine snakes

When my wife and I were just dating went on a kayak trip with my brothers. She had a large pine snake cross right in front of her. She was ready to go home after that lol. It swam with its head very high out of the water like it didn’t want to get wet and got out very fast. But once he got out...

I'll Never Tire Of This Spot

Some of my earliest memories are of that spot. It was the first place my dad took me fishing and we went quite a bit. I couldn’t have been older then 5.

    Burnt Mill Canal

Thanks. I was wondering how visible it still was. It’s on my list of things to check out.

    Burnt Mill Canal

With all this talk about canals I am curious if anyone has any info about this canal. I’ve seen it and want to explore it but haven’t had a chance yet. I can’t seem to find much about it. Looking at the LiDAR I can see it’s still somewhat visible...

    Goshen in Camden or Burlington?

Another thought. Could that canal been a bypass for for the two sawmills (#1 and #3) and the pond all together from bog iron further upstream.

    Goshen in Camden or Burlington?

I thought the same thing about the mills. I was always told both location 1 and 2 were mills. Location 1 specifically being Inskeeps mill. I’ve never had any reason not to believe it but I don’t have any proof. Mill 1 was completely exposed this summer and exploring it I’m fairly certain it was...

    Goshen in Camden or Burlington?

Yes that’s #2. It’s just downstream of the earthen dam Here to be exact https://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=39.7580717507881&lng=-74.77682131927489&z=16&type=nj1995&gpx=

    Goshen in Camden or Burlington?

Given some of our past discussions I have given that theory some thought. In Jerseymans post #8 on this thread he identifies 3 mills around the pond. I’m guessing they were in operations at different times. I’ve identified the three mills in the below picture. They only mill that would still be...

    Goshen in Camden or Burlington?

it’s been a while since we’ve talked about Goshen Neck. Over the last few months we’ve been exploring around Goshen. Today we explored all along the earthen dam down stream from Old Atsion Road which formed Goshen Pond (not to be confused with what is called Goshen Pond today). The earthen dam...

    Hampton upper forge?

The kids and I spent the day out exploring. We decided to stop by Hampton. We saw exactly where John (SuperChooch) described. Like he said, it is much easier to see it in person. There’s so much history on top of history there it’s hard to tell what was what. We also stopped at the bridge over...
