I've been working on the railroads

I was thinking the same thing about the right of way, but I'm sure the average age of the pines is much older now then it was years ago.

    Red Flag Warning

There's a Red Flag Warning today. No chance of rain for about a week, rising temperatures and a relatively dry spring, all during peak fire season. This could be a long week for our friends in the FFS...

Pine Barren Culture; Dead or Alive

Now that this thread has been officially hijacked I have to admit. I have never used anything successfully other then my fingers to pull a tick out. Grabbing low and rolling my thumb and forefinger together as if I was pinching myself below the tick has always worked for me. The slow smooth pull...

    Death of a Pine Snake

In this new barrage of articles it remains clear that they are going to pressure for more closures. I personally would have liked to see them mention the DEP's new enforcement policy and closures of ESA's to limit the impact on wildlife. Let's face it, responsible use of unimproved roads poses...

    Timberline gt mountain bike

I worked in a bike shop in the late 80's early 90's when mountain bikes were first becoming popular. They are much different today. I still have mine from back then. I kind of like the idea of these fat tire ones. Getting caught in sugar sand was never any fun

    Groan, drones...

Anyone with an ounce common sense should know not to fly over forest fires. http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2016/04/keep_drones_away_from_forest_fires_nj_warns.html

    Fingers Crossed For Our Farmers

Passed a local farm and they had half a dozen bonfires out in the fields where their seedlings were.

    Fingers Crossed For Our Farmers

I was thinking about that the last few days. I'm surprised it took the news this long to report on it.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

That go around has been there for at least a decade. I read you're original post. There has been is extensive discussion for a trail program with or with out a fee within in this very thread. I personally have no problem paying for a permit as long as that money goes right to enforcement and...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Jon, I know you're relatively new here. There is 70 pages on this thread alone about this topic and just about everything has been covered multiple times. Going and reading some you will get an idea of where everybody stands here (most of us fall somewhere in the middle). I just want to point...

Locations of Wharton Environmentally Sensitive Areas (ESAs)

Its right off the road. I'm pretty sure it just a spot that sand was pulled from just to maintain Hampton Road. Not a mining operation per se

State lawmaker seeks to ban texting while walking

I do a lot of driving. Boyd is right in NYC little phases them. The truckers on the highway though are banding together. If they see someone texting they get along side and blow their horns. I've seen this several times and seems to be effective.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Thanks John, It shouldn't come as a surprise that these roads are in disrepair. I would consider it a win only if it works. Unlike the original MAP I believe this has a chance.
