ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

I know. It's just an area I'm familiar with. You wouldn't want to use that picture in a presentation on keeping the roads open.;)

I agree with this closure. There is a devistated vernal pool back there. Just like 1/4 mile it was accessible after a fire line went right to it. It was never meant to be a road

You have a good soul, Guy. If I where in your shoes I'm not sure what I would do. I can tell you have personal ties on either side. Both sides have very good people that want the best for the pines. Most of us fall in the middle on this and aren't really that far apart. I agree closures are...

Yes I agree. That could be any one of us. He went through no different then I would. But I m not preaching against it. That video is no different then some of the videos on his blog. It's the idea that he is doing nothing wrong but everyone else is, is exactly what is at issue here. Most of us...

No it's really the PPA method of determining a vernal pool. I wouldn't have realized it without 46er

As much as I would have liked that he would have blamed illegal ORV use for rutting it out.;)

The only thing that could make that any better is if that was 1/4 mile.

    Quarter Mile Revisited

I hope you're prepared to pick up more. As these closures take affect and patrols move everywhere else to enforce them people will start going back. Sadly, all the work that was done there can be reversed in a weekend.

A popular stop for me was always Locks bridge. I could paddle upstream one way and back down another and wind up at the same spot. Was always a nice way to kill a few hours and didn't need another truck to pick up. Walking it in now doesn't make it doable anymore.

Guy. I have written my representative. I'm on the fence on how to feel here. I support most of what the PPA does. But I'm so against these closures that I want to stand in front of their canoe rental with signs and handing out flyers. I could think of a lot of things I'd rather be doing but deep...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

If anyone knows someone that lives in Atco and backs up to the power lines they should be contacted and interviewed. The road that runs practically through their back yards is open instead of the one on the other side. I'm sure they haven't been asked or even advised of the additional traffic...

Putting holes in their how they are misleading the public is the best way. Like their "vernal pool". The next is finding out where the FFS truck got stuck. My best guess would be on E Stokes Road during the Atsion Fire this past spring. How does closing that road help fire suppression? If the...

Auermuller and the Future of Access Closures

I m just sitting down and getting caught up. I was at work and didn't follow everything. The picture showing the "destruction" of a vernal pool on the headline is actually an area where the state dug up gravel to repair the road nearby. In the 90's there was a major beaver problem on Burnt Mill...

Al already did the work for me. And was not an existing vernal pool. The closures will not help that location at all. http://pinebarrensundersiege.com/2014/12/16/destruction-site-burnt-mill-road/

Ok, I'm not sure which angle you are coming from but I'm going to take a stab at this one. Most of the rumblings you got over the last few weeks were probably started from this forum. Talking to Rob was a good start as many did here (and still are). I would find it hard to believe that nobody...
