ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

It is surely a different color than what I've seen naturally in the pines anywhere. (More reddish brown). I'm also going by memory since I was to shocked to think of taking pictures. I will inspect more this weekend.

Ok maybe gravel and stone. Either way it resembles little of what it did weeks ago.

I also like how a the service road along the power lines from Jackson Road to Maple Island is show as open. This goes right behind homes there and the rangers have been actively writing tickets if you were on that road saying it was not an established road. A neighbor was on his was back after...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Take a ride down Sandy Causeway. Get a feeling for the new look of the roads. It doesn't feel like preservation at all. Two cars wide and mowed shoulders. Oh yea trucked in clay and stone. It looks and feels about as natural as driving through the safari in Great Adventure They did leave enough...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

That's a lot of closed roads for two rangers to patrol, I'm sure they are up for the challenge:rolleyes:

Auermuller and the Future of Access Closures

Kinda hard to get on West Mill with a bridge out at Pleasent Mill Church. That's one long dead end that is impossible to patrol.

Auermuller and the Future of Access Closures

I agree it can't be personal as well. The concept of preservation vs conservation is what it should be about. Giving up any access willingly just because it doesn't involve your area now is wrong. When it does involve your area it might be too late because we just handed the rest over. It's not...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Saying that we are on the same side on this topic is a bit of a stretch. You have as much of a chance convincing me that closing off Locks Bridge is helping curb ORV abuse as you have of convincing Al that vehicles do little harm to the roads. Fight Walmart and developers is one thing and easy...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

I live close enough to the Wharton that I can hear the quads and dirt bikes. While sitting in my house this weekend each one I heard just made me more and more angry. I keep hearing it's a small price to pay to walk instead of drive in the woods. Considering they're still there I think it's a...

    Drone over the Maurice

I'm leaning on his side too. If my teenage daughter was laying out in the privacy of our back yard and a drone started hovering overhead I would seriously consider it. Saying it could be Isis is a bit of a stretch though.

    Quarter Mile Revisited

Thanks Guy, I really like what I see. I don't know what to think. With some transparency everyone here could be working together with the PPA. With these sweeping closures I hope it doesn't hurt the years of work that helped 1/4 mile start to turn around. I have already witnessed tracks going...

At a half a million dollars a year in salaries and benefits that won't last long with less funding.

They will be too busy trying to keep the roads closed.

    Quarter Mile Revisited

I know. I can't explain why. I've been out west with many FFS personnel in NJ with some being in Trenton now. I've spent weeks rehabbing fires that have been out for weeks out west. Here once it's out we walk away. It's kind of like doing a job and not cleaning up after yourself. I can't explain...

    Quarter Mile Revisited

I'm a big suporter of this. It is done out west everywhere. The best part is it can be included in the cost of fighting the fire and wouldn't affect the annual budget for the most part.
