    Blast from the past

In the late 70's and early 80's my father used to take me surf fishing there all the time. The beach access used to be right there in the parking lot(which you can see in this picture) and the castle was the last building you would see before driving onto the beach.

    The NEW Beer Thread

Flying Fish brewery gets a bigger home I know I am upset about this, their old brewery was right across the street from my shop. Every time that they had a batch going I could that was all I could smell. In the last month or so I haven't noticed it, I figured that they made the move.:(

    Burnt Mill Road

Yes I already knew that but it sounds like you even more experience with it. I remember them building it when I was a kid. I used to see all the equipment on the bus ride to school in Waterford (the old one) and pretty much all of town was torn up for the sewer lines. In the 90's I was very...

    Burnt Mill Road

Teegate, that's the place. Largo, My daughter is in her second year there so i am still on the small fields. Its funny right now the paved road is worse than the dirt road. I tried taking the dirt road home last year and couldn't. This spring, when it was dry I went down there and there was...

    Burnt Mill Road

I just took my daughter to her first soccer practice at the end of Burnt Mill Road in Waterford Township last week. To my surprise I noticed a mound of gravel where it changes over to dirt. I decided to take this way home since it is shorter to cut through the woods than it is to loop around...

Black Bear Alert Waterford Twp. (Jackson Rd. area)

Yep, I think they realized that they over reacted. As far as I know they reversed 911 called everyone in the Atco area, locked down Thomas Richards school and called all the emergency #'s for students. My shop received a call from the school district saying the police confirmed a bear sighting...

    Friday Failed Frog Find

Yes, I think the cooler weather sent the frogs into hiding. Two nights ago when it was really humid at night they out in full force, but the last two nights they have been silent around my way too.

    Its a Frog Slog!

Thanks Rednedck, that was interesting reading. I didn't realize that they were so many "hotspots" for PBTF. Some of them are in walking distance for me too. I have a retention pond right behind my house which has several species of frogs in it. I have been able to identify the spring peepers...

    Kindle users?

I think it depends on what you plan to do with it. Both my wife and I have a Kindle. I have the Kindle Fire and she has a regular Kindle. I use the Fire for just about everything from surfing the web, reading books and storing my music. It is more of a replacement to my computer. The screen...

    Pollen

I had a family BBQ yesterday and we wound up having to have it inside. We cleaned everything off and an hour later it was all yellow again:( We could watch the yellow pine pollen just blowing off the trees. It has to be close to peak and should get better by the end of the week.

    coffin and hay glassworks

Yes, Jackson glass works was just off of Jackson Road not far from the firehouse. Its all private property now. The house I grew up in is very close to there and I think there was a previous house there, or at least an out building, around the time of the glass works. We found an old...

    Prescribed Burning Bill

I just came across this the other day. I could be wrong but this would allow the forest fire service to train land owners to do their own prescribed on their lands. http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2012/Bills/S0500/368_I1.PDF

    coffin and hay glassworks

Hey Mike, I grew up near the Jackson Glass Works in Atco. As a kid we use to dig up all kinds of things from bottles and slag glass to old tools in our back yard. That was one of the things really kept me interested in the local history.

    New to the Fourm

Thanks, I do take the family with me. That was one of the things that we did as a family when I was little. Back in the 70's and 80's we used to go for a "ride". We just brought a lunch and and waited to see where the roads would take us (although I know my father knew where he was going)...

On Saturday they were reporting that they were arrested for the 400 acres in Winslow, but quickly changed that. Also FYI Pine Hill and Winslow border one another. The fires were set in Pine Hill and they were arrested in Winslow.
