Your Forest Under Attack: MAP Misinformation from the DEP

We do don't want any one to get hurt, under any circumstances, or accused of anything they are not guilty of. There has been a lot of misinformation circulating about that has put some people at risk. It is important that we realize that there are people who are potentially dangerous on BOTH...

Your Forest Under Attack: MAP Misinformation from the DEP

Jason said: "This Map creates more enforceable routes than currently exist, and thats why the plan is going to help protect these damaged areas. The targeted closure system that we have today is just a game of wack-a-mole because there aren't enough park police to sit on the many hot spots...

Your Forest Under Attack: MAP Misinformation from the DEP

Hold on now. Ben was only questioning whether it was a push line, he wasn't saying it wasn't absolutely. Then he requested the exact coords to make a better determination. Also, I wouldn't take Jason's bias with 44's too seriously. He did say that he was NOT making an assumption despite the...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Great work. It is important that Tabernacle and Shamong follow Medford Lakes' lead on this as Wharton is in both. Woodland twp, Atco, Hammonton, Mullica, Greenbank, etc

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Sandy Causeway is the quintessential sugar sand road in the pines. They trucked gravel and fill in there.....from out of state perhaps? What the hell is going on??!!!!

    Quarter Mile Revisited

Agreed! I was initially against any road closures but I'll take this targeted approach over a nearly complete lock down any day.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Excellent write up!!! I think it was mentioned already but practically the entire great swamp is locked out. I saw that hunting forum and was also surprised by the lack of empathy. I also noticed that a lot of them kept referring to the pineys, there by indicating that they were not locals...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Actually 46er, that plan had crossed my mind before also. I had hoped that the state would adopt a permit based plan for the state forests before such dramatic closures. Of course, the main throughways could remain open for the general public. Accountability would improve dramatically...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

I took the road that runs along the southwestern bank of the mullica (railroad I think they call it on the topo) and every intersecting road was marked with a sign saying no vehicles. I went about as far as the Lock's bridge turn off. I suspect it to be consistant all the way to Constable bridge.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Yes, it appears access to many of the rivers we kayak and canoe are now blocked. Especially the less traveled tributaries. Most of the south side of the mullica is blocked off. Many of the roads have no ORV damage so I am not sure of the logic. The PPA has a map of areas identified as areas...

Pine Barrens Exhibition at the Noyes Museum

I went with my son to the exhibit yesterday. I enjoyed it. There is a nice of mix of art and history/education there. The artistic aspect can boarder on the abstract which can lead to long misunderstood explainations when your with an eight year old (like i was), it was also pretty funny...
